The Vikings dominated the play from the get go as they took the opening kickoff and marched 60 yards in 12 plays with Todd Traen scoring on a 12 yard run. On the two point conversion Steffan Stiklestad walked in untouched and the Vikings led 8 to 0.

“Our defense had to step up for a playoff run” said Adrian’s assistant coach Kevin Nowotny, “Our defense took a couple of steps backwards towards the end of the season and it showed tonight.”

In the second quarter Adrian’s Brandon Wolf had a 20 yard touchdown run. The pass from Levi Bullerman to Brandon Wolf was good for the 2 point conversion and the game was tied 8 to 8 but that was as close as it would get. Adrian’s 5 turnovers sealed their fate.

Stiklestad ran in from 8 yards out after an interception to move the score to 14 to 8. Then Derek Stripling threw a 27 yard scoring pass with :04 remaining in the half and it was caught by Tony Ufkin. Minneota led at half 22 to 8.

Adrian next to dead got some life when Billy Anderson returned the 2nd half kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. The PAT failed and the Dragons fumbled on

the play but were back in the game 22 to 14.

Nowotny commented, “I said at that point, they let us back in the game now all we need is one defensive stop! But they ran it down our throats and there was nothing we could do about it. That is a very helpless feeling.”

Minneota then answered twice with Stripling scoring from one yard out and Stiklestad adding another one yard score. Stiklestad ran for 175 yards on 36 carries and the Vikings ended up with 300 yards rushing and 4 for 7 passing for 342 total yards.

Adrian only managed another 8 points with the final score ending up 42 to 22.

Anthony Sauer led Adrian with 22 tackles on the evening.

Adrian ends the year 7 & 2. Minneota moves on to play Springfield at Springfield on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
