Wabasso 11, Adrian Area 1
On Thursday, May 23rd, the girls played in the sub-section softball tournament. They played 3rd seeded Wabasso at Slayton. The game was 0-0 until the bottom of the 3rd. The lead-off batter reached on a single, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. She scored on a single. With two outs the next batter hit a fly ball that was dropped, which didn’t hurt until the next batter hit a home run to score 3 runners, making the score 4-0. In the 4th inning they scored 6 more runs on 2 singles, a double and a home run. The final run was in the bottom of the 5th on a walk, and two singles.
Adrian Area scored their only run in the top of the 5th when Jennifer Preuss hit a single up the middle followed by a walk on Halle Heitkamp. Kendra DeBeer hit a single to load the bases. Halle Heitkamp scored on an error.
Offensively for Adrian Area: Kendra DeBeer went 1-2; Kristina Cauwels was also 1-2, with 1 SB; Jennifer Preuss was 1-2; and Halle Heitkamp had 1 BB,
Defensively: Halle Heitkamp with 1-Assist; Shawna Rogers added 1-Assist and 1-PO; Sam Moulton had 2-Assists, and 1-PO; Avery Balster, 1-PO; Autumn Grussing added 6 PO; and Jennifer Preuss had 2-Assists and 4 PO.
Avery Balster pitched 3.2 innings giving up 9 hits, 2 BB, 3 SO, 10 R. Shawna Rogers came in and pitched .2 innings giving up 1 hit, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1 R.
