Adrian News 5-30-18

Welcome to Summer!  Not sure what happened to Spring, but the high 90 to 100 degree days we just lived through is definitely not Spring.  Have you noticed how fast the crops have come up?

Again a big CONGRATULATIONS to all who graduated this past weekend.

Memorial Day saw a program of recognition and gratitude to our Veterans, in almost every town around.  Hope you had a chance to go to one of them.

Our area Track and Field teams did great in sub-sections.  Both Ellsworth and Adrian are sending a great showing on to compete in Sections on Thursday.  Good luck to all of you!

The AHS baseball team represented themselves very well during sub-sections.  They were defeated by #1 seed Wabasso after winning two prior games.  They were scheduled to take on RTR in the elimination rounds on Tuesday.  Congratulations for a good season.

The Adrian Area girl’s Softball team won their first section game, upsetting RTR with the win, but lost their second game to Edgerton.  Congratulations on a good year.

Congratulations to AHS girls and boys golf teams.  Both are in third place through the first round of sections.  Congratulations and good luck!

Kay Cox, accompanied by her son Mike, attended the funeral of Audrey Walgrave in Luverne.  Kay and Audrey graduated high school together in 1943.  She is survived by her husband,”Bub” and their two children, Mary Pat and Dan.  Blessed be the memory of Audrey Walgrave.

The residents of Country Living Cottages are very proud of Felicity Avarado who graduated this past weekend.  Felicity works part time at the Cottages. Congratulations Felicity!

At the Adrian cemeteries on Memorial Day, Pastor Kristi Franken led the services, beginning at the Adrian Cemetery and moving to St. Adrian Cemetery afterwards.  It was a hot morning, but under the trees it was bearable.  There were refreshments at the American Legion afterwards.  Those who attended form the Cottages were Carol Henning, Helen Loosbrock, Helen Lonneman and Kay Cox.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 26 for Jeffrey D Bosch who died on May 13th at home.  He is the first of a long line of cousins of the Cox family to pass away. His memorial service was held at Community Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, SD.  A large number of the cousins came to pay their last respects to a great guy!  Blessed be the memory of Jeffrey Bosch.

Don’t forget Bingo at the Senior Center on June 7.  Be sure to call ahead!

The Catholic Daughters in Lismore will serve their annual salad and hot dish luncheon on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Serving begins at 11:30 a.m until 1:00 p.m.  Plan on attending!

School is out, so please watch for children.

Here’s your thought for the week:  Early this morning an angel gave me a basket filled with joy, peace, faith, love, strength and grace for all humans needs.  He said to use them and pass them on to those I care about.  So I’m passing this basket on to you!  Have a beautiful week!
