She’s back! After being swept away by a limo at 4:00 in the morning last Monday (August 20th) Amanda Shultz was returned in the same luxurious manner late Sunday night. You could say her one week in Florida wasn’t quite a vacation, it was more. From the Teacup-Ride in Magic Kingdom to the Dolphin Show in Sea World, Amanda’s experience was one that will not be forgotten.
It all began Monday morning after the late-nighters ended their day, and just before the early risers began theirs. A sole limo was the only commotion in the quite town of Ellsworth as it rolled down main-street and into the Shultz’s driveway. After a few last minute precautions they were off: Chad, Arla, Aaron, Adam, and of course, the guest of honor, Amanda. The first flight from Sioux Falls to Minneapolis was a warm-up for the upcoming departure to Orlando Florida, as it was the first time flying for most of the family. During the duration of their 3-hour flight Amanda gazed at the clouds and houses out the window, played with some of her toys, and chewed LOTS of gum.
After landing in the Sunshine State, Amanda’s family checked into their villa at Give Kids the World. The resort itself could consume the entire trip as it had an arcade, a couple pools, a movie theatre, an ice cream parlor, a weekly Christmas, and much more.
As Monday came to an end, Tuesday began, ushering in the bulk of the vacation. Amanda kept up quite an agenda as she visited quite a few attractions. On Tuesday she met the princesses in Magic Kingdom. On Wednesday she saw the wild side of Animal Kingdom. Catching a few waves from the Atlantic Ocean took up most of Thursday. As rain poured from the sky on Friday, Amanda watched the dolphins and fed the sea lions at Sea World. Saturday was a day of shows and festivities as Amanda watched the production of Beauty and the Beast and danced with the cheerleaders during the High-School Musical pep rally. Being the busiest and most hectic and also the most exciting and relaxing weekend in Amanda’s life I’m sure it will be unforgettable.
Being such an amazing week, Amanda had quite a tough time narrowing down her favorite memory. Her immediate answer was meeting the Disney princesses, who greeted her by name, took pictures, and signed autographs. But then, as she began to really think about all that happened, she also remembered the High-school Musical pep rally were she was asked to dance by one of the cheerleaders. And then another instance came to mind as she remembered when she got to feed the barking sea lions at Sea World. Those were the three answers this week I guess, but next week could be another toss up as more and more memories are played back in the mind of the unbelievable 9-year-old.
As this experience currently sits at the top of Amanda’s good-times list, I am sure it will be knocked down a few notches as Amanda is always striving for a good-time and a new memory. A few previews for some list-toppers would be Amanda’s goals of getting a cell phone and also a driver’s license. As the vacation itself was short lived, I’m sure the memories on a whole will last a lifetime.
