Cross Country runs in Turkey Trot

On Thursday, the Dragons traveled to Worthington to run in the annual Turkey Trot. The jr. high girls were the first race for the day. Courtney Penning finished first for the Dragons in a time of 7:13, to take twenty-fifth place overall. Mikayla Jeffers finished in 7:28 claiming thirty-third-place. Halle Heitkamp was the next Dragon runner to finish, taking thirty-eighth-place in a time of 7:39. Madison Leopold finished in 8:25, claiming fiftieth place.

Bradden Kunkel represented the Dragons in the jr. high boys race, taking thirty-seventh place in a time of 6:50 .Jordin Kopplow was the first Dragon to finish the varsity girl’s race among a field of eighty seven. Jordin ran the 4000 meter race in 15:57 to claim second place. Megan Sauer was just four seconds back of Jordin, taking second place with a time of 16:01. Nicole Slater ran to a fifth-place finish in a time of 16:13. Morgan Sauer finished the race in tenth-place with a time of 16:34. Anna Serrao ran the race in 17:35 to claim twenty-eighth-place as the Dragon’s fifth runner in for the day in her first varsity competition.

Also running her first varsity race, was Hannah Bullerman, who ran the race in a time of 18:20, finishing in thirty-eighth place. Jada Elias finished the race in fifty-fifth place in a time of 19:13. In the varsity boy’s race, Taylor Recker finished in twenty-first place in a time 18:56. Collin Kemper ran the race in 20:08, taking fortieth place overall.
