The Section 3-A cross-country meet was scheduled for 4:00, October 25, at the Adrian Country Club. But Mother Nature had other plans for the day. With snow covering the course, temperatures in the mid-thirties, and northwest winds gusting to thirty miles per hour, the section 3-A executive committee decided it was best to postpone the meet for one day.
On Friday, October 26, the teams all started arriving in Adrian at about 2:15 for the meet. This year there was a different method for advancing to the state meet. Once the top two teams were determined, the top eight runners who were not members of one of those two teams also advanced to the state meet. Any runner, whether they are advancing as an individual, or as a top two-team member, can win the individual state title. Also, if it should happen that five members from one team make it to the state meet in that group of eight, they are not considered a team, so they are not competing for the team title. |
