The girls in the “Class of 78” spent four days together at “Man Cave” in Perham, MN. “Man Cave” is the property of Jane (Eickhoff) and Martin Vigil who live in Colorado. Those attending were: Ann (Cox) Hoemberg, Pat (Wolf) Hewitt, Donette Olson, Judy (Loosbrock) Ripley and Jane (Eickhoff) Vigil. One of their faithful gals is Jolene (Heitkamp) Truve who spent the week with her mom Lorri Weiss in Adrian.
The “Henning Get Together” was held October 24th at the Countryside Inn in Adrian. Those attending were: Jean Lupkes, Mary Ann Reining, Dave Reining, Cory and Kaytlin Reining, Carol Henning, Rosie Woltjer, “Hap” and Arlene Henning, Loretta Deutsch, Les and Sandy Henning, Heidi and Norah Yakas, Rosie Henning, Betty Deutsch, and Al and Jeanette Henning. How great to hear about these family reunions and dinners. That's the way our children and grandchildren learn to love and have fun with each other!
Congratulations to our Adrian Football team and their coaches! Saturday afternoon, October 27th the Dragons won over Murray County Central Rebels on a cool sunny afternoon at Adrian. It was the Section 3A playoffs! Our Legion marched with the flags and our great award winning band played the Star Spangled Banner! We will now play in Marshall on Friday, November 2nd at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday I was at the game and again met a new friend Bonnie Rogers who is the grandmother of cousins Logan and Nolan Rogers, who are on the Adrian team! Logan is a quarterback and does a good job. Also at the game was Tad Heitkamp who was taking his Dad’s place on the “Chain Gang” as “Ching” was at the wedding of Autumn Wolf as well as other guys on the “Chain Gang”. This old Senior Citizen was delighted to have Tad come over to the fence and give me a hug! You made my day Tad! Congratulations Adrian Football Team and coaches and student managers and great cheerleaders! Also attending the game was Rev. Boese of our Zion Lutheran Church who has a pretty cheerleader, Ellie! Rev. Boese stopped at my car to day “Hi”. What a great family!
The Dayton House Holiday Extravaganza will be Thursday, November 1st at the Historic Dayton House in Worthington starting at 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be 16 vendors which will pretty much fill the Dayton House. Lots of Christmas items for sale and also a Wine and Cheese Bar! If you have never been to the Dayton House, this is your chance to go!
Word was received Saturday about the death of former Adrianite Teresa Schreck who passed away Saturday in the Twin Cities area. Funeral is pending. A great gracious lady!
I can hardly wait for the Adrian High School play “The Beverly Hillbillies”. This comedy will be held Sunday, November 11th at 3:00 p.m. and Monday, November 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the Adrian Middle School. they have a great cast and it will make you laugh and recall the T.V. show by the same name! Be sure to go!

Ashley (Cox) Gosch and little 3 year old Teagan were morning visitors at the homes of her great-grandparents Gene and Eileen Hokeness and Kay Cox. She was eager to attend the wedding of Autumn Wolf to Andrew Paschke on Saturday afternoon and wear her new dress! What a joy!
A beautiful wedding took place Saturday, October 27th at the United Methodist Church in Luverne. The bride Autumn Wolf was married to Andrew Paschke on a sunny lovely fall day, officiated by Pastor Kristi Franken. Parents of Autumn are Bob and Cindy Wolf of Adrian and the grooms parents are Loring and Marge Paschke. Making up the bridal party were members of the family and dear friends. A reception and dance were held at Lucianos in downtown Sioux Falls. The couple will be living in San Diego after they return from their honeymoon. Congratulations and best wishes Autumn and Andrew! I have heard so many comments of how beautiful the wedding was!
Doesn’t seem possible that a year has passed since “Big Orv” started Pinochle on Thursday evenings! Last Thursday he had seven tables! Winners were: 1st - Clarence Kellen and “Cannon” Muller - 2nd - Jim Reese and Steve Banck - 3rd - Jeanne and Ray Heitkamp - 4th - Ron Van Horsen and Mike Metz - 5th - John Palaschak and “Dolly” Peters. Big Orv can always add more tables! If you like Pinochle Thursday night is a “must”!
For the 8th consecutive time the Adrian High School girls Cross Country Team will be going to St. Olaf College to run at the elite State meet! Our team has put Adrian on the map for eight straight years! Now that is something to brag about! In the Sports section of the Review you will find the names of all Adrian runners and their times. I only know how proud Adrian School and Community are of our Cross Country runners and we wish them the best next Saturday at St. Olaf. We will be praying for good weather for the Cross County Team and our Football Team! Our Football team will be playing against St. Clair.
Our sympathy to the family and many friends of Bill Knips who passed away Monday, October 22nd in Tucson, Arizona. Bill’s parents were the well known Alvin and Lotti (Eshleman) Knips of Lismore. Bill is survived by his wife Myrna, Cyan and Tom Loonan, Cindy Voss, Monte and Peggy Knips, Aprly and Ken Serivner; 14 grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Munns,, Darlene Lutmer and one brother Donald Knips. Visitation will be Friday evening, November 16th at the First Presbyterian Church in Lismore followed by Memorial Services on Saturday, November 17th at 1:30 p.m. in the church. Burial will be in the Adrian Cemetery. Blessed by the memory of Bill Knips!
Members of the Gengler families from this area, drove to Sioux Falls on October 18th to attend the funeral of Al Tennessen, age 84, who passed away October 14th in Sioux Falls. Al was born in Lismore in 1927. He was a diesel mechanic until retiring. After retirement Al went to work at HyVee and delivered flowers for ten years! He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, seven children and 25 grandchildren. Al’s funeral was held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls and burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Blessed by the memory of Al Tennessen!
In Thursday’s, October 15, 2012, Argus Leader was a good colored picture of former Ellsworth basketball star Trevor Gruis, son of Layton and Missy Gruis of rural Ellsworth. The picture and write up is about Gruis being the only full-time returning starter on a Coyote squad at the University of South Dakota College.
