On Saturday, Glenn & Jackie Wieneke traveled to St. Mary's Church in Larchwood IA to attend the confirmation of their grandson, Michael Kirchner, son of Angie Beek, of Inwood IA.  Michael was one of 23 youth to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Nickless, Bishop from the Diocese of Sioux City.  After Mass, a meal was served for more than 300 of the confirmants & their families.  Also sharing the day with Michael was his brother, Brandon & Jennifer Kirchner from Yankton, SD.

  Names from the Book of Remembrance were read at the All Souls Mass on Friday evening at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  Families lit a candle for the loved ones that they had lost in the past year. Those remembered from Lismore and St. Kilian were:  Cletus Spieker, Bernadette Pick, Rita Krogman, Steven Lacore, Vincent Wieneke, Marilyn Loosbrock, Nathan Koehne, and Aletha Schnieder.  Blessed be their memory.  

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the Nobles County Annual Veteran’s Day Supper on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the Legion Hall in Brewster.  Social Hour begins at 5:30 with supper being served at 6:30 p.m.  Entertainment will be provided.  Everyone is invited on this day to honor and thank a veteran for serving our country with pride.

  Making an unexpected visit in Lismore on Sunday were Diana Wieneke of North Mankato and her daughter, Donna Fischer and her daughter, Kiera.  They were out for a “Sunday drive” that took them this way. After touring the town to see changes since they moved, they headed back to Mankato.   

Make plans to attend the annual feather party sponsored by The American Legion and Auxiliary on Sunday, November 18th.  You could win a chicken or a turkey for your Thanksgiving meal!!

  Brad Krogman, Maple Grove spent a few days in the home of Tom & Mary Krogman. Besides pheasant hunting, he attended the All Soul’s Mass to light a candle for his mother, Rita.

  Sunday, November 11th, the First Presbyterian Church will serve their annual dinner at the Legion Hall in Lismore. A variety of soups and assorted homemade desserts will be offered beginning at 11:00 a.m.  The country store and bake sale will be open with the auction starting at 1:30 p.m.  Everyone is invited and welcome to attend.  

The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, November 20th at 7:00 p.m. (Note date change.) Arlys Hoffman will serve lunch and Judy Wieneke and Cecelia Lais will help her with BINGO prizes.   

Visiting with Darleen Lutmer and/or enjoying supper at the home of Debby & Frank Wieneke near Adrian on Saturday after deer hunting were: Darleen, Tom & Christine Preuss and Michael & Jennifer, all of Adrian; Gary Lutmer, Ormsby; Rick Lutmer, Omaha, NE and Bruce Lutmer, Brooklyn Park and Dave & Deb Lutmer and Cody of Lismore.

  When you donate blood, you help save lives!  The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Wilmont on Tuesday, November 13th from 2:00-7:00 p.m.  There is always a shortage of blood during the holidays and winter weather.  Please give!

  Our sympathy to the family of Hilda Tweet, who passed away on October 31st. She was 95.  Hilda was a teacher for the Luverne School System until she married, then she and her husband, Lewis  lived on the family farm near Lismore and raised five children there.  Hilda was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lismore. She enjoyed participating in weekly Bible study for many years and attending church events.  She is survived by her children and spouses, Bonnie & Doug Langland, Worthington; Rod & Aileen Tweet, Lismore; Chuck & Barb Tweet, Garvin; and Karen & Jerry O'Nan, Lakewood, CO and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Blessed be the memory of Hilda Tweet.

  Weekend visitors in the home of their parents, Ray & Bette LeBrun were:  Steve & Cheri LeBrun of Lafayette, Jack & LeeAnn LeBrun of Sioux Falls, Bill LeBrun and Miranda & Morgan of Reading and Marty & Josie LeBrun and Emily and Jim & Anne Lebrun, all of Adrian.  They were little elves and did some extra special chores for their Mom and Dad.   Saturday evening they attended Mass together and enjoyed dining at the Lismore Bar & Grill, followed by more family time at the house.  Ray & Bette always enjoy spending time with their family.

Over the weekend hunters at the Glenn & Jackie Wieneke home were: Scott Nath, Luverne; Eric WIeneke, Wilmont; Matt Kirchner, Ft. Lewis-McChord, WA; Nate Wieneke (DSU), Madison SD and Troy WIeneke, Slayton.  They all enjoyed their annual Chili Feed on Saturday night.  They didn't spot any deer close enough to tag but had fun reminiscing and catching up with family and friends.

Visiting in the home of Earl and Joyce Erdman on Sunday were Glen and Mick Hoffer of Sioux Falls.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, Riverview Elementary School in Durango, CO (hometown of Lynn Lorang Dearey) is collecting used cell phones. When you donate to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, you will provide troops with free calling cards to stay connected with loved ones.

Lynn, the daughter of Ruth & Marv Lorang, is chairman of the cell phone drive with the Riverview Elementary PTO.  She recently read about this program called “Cell Phones for Soldiers” in a Dear Abby column. The program is amazing and was started by two young kids!! 

Please dig out your unused cell phone and mail/get  them to Lynn's parents, Ruth & Marv Lorang by Friday, Nov. 16th.  Lynn will take them into the drive for you. A soldier overseas will THANK YOU!!!
