Lismore was well represented at the annual Nobles County Veteran’s Day Supper held in Brewster on Sunday, November 11th.  The program included prayers, patriotic medley of the five branches of the military and entertainment by Gloria Wieneke.  Curt Hendel of Adrian was the guest speaker.  Those from Lismore were:  Veryl & Avis Stoffel, Ray & Bette LeBrun, Florian & Mary Ann Loosbrock, Bob & Jamie LeBrun, Marv & Ruth Lorang, Gloria, Wieneke and Don Lacore (and his brother, Dean and two friends from Florida).  Thanks again, to all of the veterans for their service & sacrifice!

Bob & Jean Knips of Luverne visited with Darleen Lutmer at the Country Cottages last Monday afternoon.

Congratulations to Loren & Terese Peterburs of Mesa, AZ (formerly of Lismore) on celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.  Greetings may be sent to them at 8216 E Meseto Avenue, Mesa, AZ 85209.

A Celebration of Life for William (Billy) H. Knips was held at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon in Lismore.  Rev. Terry Olthoff presided with Kathy Knips doing the meditation.  Bill was the son of Alvin & Lottie (Eshleman) Knips, graduated from Adrian High School in 1951 and the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture in 1953. He volunteered for the draft and spent two years in the US Army.  Bill returned to the family farm for two decades.  When Bill remarried in 1990, his father Alvin, then 90 years old, served as his best man.  He is survived by his wife, Myrna; daughters, Cyan (Tom) Loonan, Cindy Voss, and Apryl (Ken) Scrivner; his son, Monte (Peggy) Knips; brother, Donald (Janice) Knips and sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Munns and Darleen Lutmer.  The service program included photos of Bill as a young man, in his military uniform, and one from recent years. There was also an aerial picture of the family farm and a photo of his nine grandchildren.  Of special interest in the program was a copy of an email Bill sent to his granddaughter, Kassy, shortly after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.  Another interesting fact is that Bill and his sister, Darleen were the Adrian High School homecoming king and queen in the fall of 1950.  God bless the memory of Bill Knips.

Get well wishes to Laura Erdman, daughter of Mike and Pam, as she recovers from injuries received in a car accident last Saturday evening.  She is receiving medical attention at “the Castle” in Sioux Falls. Her address is:  Laura Erdman-Patient, Sanford Children’s Hospital, 1600 W 22nd Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-5039.

Congratulations to Evelyn Reuter on becoming a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters.   Lisa Diekmann, Regent of Ct. St. Bernard #886 recently presented Evelyn with a 50-year membership pin at her home in the Country Cottages in Adrian.

The Lismore Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church along with members of the 1st Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 21st at 7:30 PM.  A free will offering will be taken for the Manna Food Pantry (Nobles County Food Shelf.) Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome!
