Thank you Adrian High School students and fans and parents for picking up the garbage on game nights! I saw lots of Elementary students picking up during the last three games at the gym. Such a big help for our custodians! I’m sure Mr. Carrier agrees!
What a joy to see Joni Carlberg at the Adrian/Fulda boy’s basketball game! She has had two chemo treatments and didn’t get sick! Thank you God for answered prayers!
Adrian B game was won by one point! So exciting! The varsity boys lost to Fulda! our girls in basketball are playing very well! It is a joy to watch these young people play in the sports they love!
How about our Music Department! Congratulations to the five Adrian High School band students who were selected to go to Seattle, WA, to participate in the Western International Band Clinic! The students were: Natalie Cook, Nick Lorang, Justine Redding, Morgan Sauer and Megan Sauer! The five students were busy every minute and experienced so much in the field of music. An experience they will never forget!
Carolyn Elias was released from a Sioux Falls Hospital on November 20th, after surgery. That evening some of her family, namely Tom and Sandy Klein, Jessica and Brandon prepared a lovely supper for Mom Carolyn, coming home from the hospital and Celine Klein’s birthday. Those attending were: Steve and Terri Elias and boys; Dean and Stacie Elias and girls. All enjoyed the birthday cake for Celine! On Thanksgiving Day guests in the Bill Elias home were: Tom, Sandy and Jessica Klein, Dallas Hamm, Brandon Klein, Denny, Anne and Carin Kruger. Steve and Terri Elias and boys were guests in the evening along with Dean Elias and his daughter Taya. Of course Carolyn sat in a chair of “honor” and enjoy the festivities! It is good to see Carolyn up and around and feeling so well.
On Wednesday, November 21st a group of ladies had coffee and “goodies” at Celine Klein’s home. Celine Klein’s daughter Connie Hesse of Jackson picked up Celine and they all went to Mountain Lake to celebrate Thanksgiving at the home of Dolores Hesse. Connie’s husband Joel and son Andrew were also overnight guests of his mom Dolores Hesse. The Celine Klein family attended Mass on Sunday, November 25th and then enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the Countryside Inn in Adrian. Those present were: Marilyn (Klein) and Jim Jellem and family of Hills; Duane and Chris Klein and family of Rollingstone, MN; Shirley (Klein) and Steve top and family of Luverne; Tom and Sandy Klein and family of Luverne and Connie (Klein) and Joel Hesse and family of Jackson, MN. Connie is employed by the Worthington School District and their family is living in an apartment in Jackson until their home in Caledonia is sold. It was a great get-to-gather for all the Klein’s. Happy Birthday Celine.
Don’t forget the Adrian Knights of Columbus (KC’s) will be serving soup and sandwiches after the 10:30 Mass. They will also have a “Holiday Day” bake sale! Can’t beat that for a bargain and Moms don’t need to fix Sunday dinner! All are welcome! A free will offering will be taken and appreciated!
This writer read with great interest about all the achievements accomplished by Nobles County 4-H members! It was published in the November 28th issue of our own Nobles County Review. I cannot name all the members of 4-H in our area, but it is wonderful what they have done this past year! I will name the outstanding youth leaders who were recognized for completing 10 years of 4-H! Alissa, Morgan and Megan Sauer, Dillon John, Claire Bents, Austin and Tanner Kamm, Kurt Christians, Andrea Fuerstenberg, Natalie Cook and Laura Lorang! I did notice that the three Sauer sisters had a total of 47 projects! With that many projects, I wonder where the family ate their meals and did they sleep? Anyway, 4-H is a great organization and all members learn so much that will shape their future.
Some tidbits about the Shelby Schieck funeral. The left over food from the luncheon was donated to the Banquet in Sioux Falls. The Lutheran ladies and the Catholic ladies made the serving go very well. I understand that Father Beerman offered the large church basement for the luncheon. It was so good to see Pastor Kristi Franken from the Methodist Church, Fr. Beerman and Fr. Vogel from the Catholic Church and of course Pastor Boese who conducted the service all eating and visiting together. It was good for this writer to visit with Bill Boecker of Independence, WI, and again meet his son Pat who was a pallbearer. Pat introduced me to his lovely new bride. God Bless Shelby’s family!
Our deep sympathy to the parents and family of dear little baby Erin Mazza of Adrian. Erin only lived a short time. Her parents are Brian and Amanda Mazza and she is also survived by two brothers Devin and Carter and many grandparents and aunts and uncles. Private funeral and burial will be at a later date. God Bless this family!
Thanks for the good kind helping hands of Rick Knips, Allen Wolf and Nick Loosbrock! or was it the other twin?
A lovely wedding took place Saturday, December 1st at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne at 3:00 p.m. Rebecca Kocer became the bride of Allen Gengler. Rebecca is the daughter of Tom and Lonna Hanson and Ed and Brenda Kocer. Allen is the son of Brian and Joyce Gengler. Officiants were Rev. Terry Olthoff, Allen’s Pastor at Lismore and Sarah Gengler, Allen’s sister. The bridal party was made up with family members and friends of the couple. The reception was held at the Blue Mound Catering Hall in Luverne. The decorations were beautiful in the brides chosen colors. The couple will be living in an apartment in Adrian. Allen is engaged in farming and the dairy business with his family. Congratulations Rebecca and Allen!
Another honor for former Adrianite Ron Cox, son of Marie and the late Bill Cox. Ron won the IPL World Bench press in the Masters 242 lb. class! Ron also pulled 3rd in open, which entailed all brackets. Congratulations Ron!
