The Earl and Joyce Erdman family recently celebrated Mike Erdman's 25th anniversary of sobriety with an ice cream cake, cards, and gifts.  The family is extremely proud of Mike!  He has been through some very hard times but he has shown it can be taking "one day at a time" and having faith in a Higher Power.  Congratulations, Mike!

Christmas week guests at the Cyril and Marcella Gengler home included their family members as follows:  Karla & Joe Nowak and Erick & Susana of Columbus, OH; Eric & Minoli Gengler and Rohan & Wolfgang of Chicago, IL; Brenda Gengler also of Chicago; and Teresa & Erik Peterson of Revillo, SD.

Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock were glad to have most of their children home for the holidays.  Their daughter, Amber arrived from New York City with many great and funny stories of the crazy East Coast. Mary, Stephen and Nichole were all home from Benedictine College. They love college life but were ready for a much-needed break from their studies. Wade was not able to be with the rest of the family as he is still in Kuwait working with internal affairs. They all missed him but had a very happy time together.

Ken & Vickie Leinen and McKenna travelled to Rochester, MN to spend Christmas with her parents, Art & Millie Brandt. Vickie was pleased that most of her family was there; only one brother was not able to join them.  The family was able to share a Christmas visit with Vickie's daughter, Jenny and her husband Jared via Skype.  Jenny was on liberty in Dubai (located south east of the Persian Gulf) for five days and Jared spent Christmas in Seattle, WA with his father.   Colt Bullerman, Adrian and Kait Leinen, Sioux Falls joined the Brandt family gathering on Christmas Eve.

Deb and Dave Lutmer were overnight guests in the home of her sister, Carol Giroux of Wheaton, MN last Thursday.  The Lutmers were enroute to Crookston where they attended the funeral of their friend, Walt Keller, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, December 21.  Walt (61) had been courageously battling cancer for the past year, enduring many surgeries and treatments in Rochester.  He had recently retired from the Polk County Sheriff's Office where he served in many capacities, including Investigator, Sergeant, Chief Deputy, Assistant Medical Examiner, and was a certified Polygraph Operator.  As a tribute to their fallen comrade, about 50 law enforcement officers lined the entrance as Walt's casket was brought into the church. Walt was extremely involved in many church, community, and Veterans activities.  God Bless the memory of Walt Keller.

Mark and his good friend, the late Dwayne Bents, had caught them on one of their last fishing trips together. This was only the second time Earl and Joyce were unable to be together on Christmas Eve; the first time was when Earl was in Korea on December 25,1953.

Dobbs commented on the liturgy, the decorations, the music, and praised those involved in the liturgy.  It is such a blessing to have a Christmas Eve Mass in our beautiful church! It was also a pleasure to see a handsome US Marine soldier in his dress blue uniform at Christmas Eve Mass.  That young man would be Dylan Johnson, son of Patty Johnson and grandson of Darleen Lutmer.  Dylan is home on leave from Ft. Sills, OK and will return in January.
