The Earl and Joyce Erdman family recently celebrated Mike Erdman's 25th anniversary of sobriety with an ice cream cake, cards, and gifts.  The family is extremely proud of Mike!  He has been through some very hard times but he has shown it can be done...by taking "one day at a time" and having faith in a Higher Power.  Congratulations, Mike!

Christmas week guests at the Cyril and Marcella Gengler home included their family members as follows:  Karla & Joe Nowak and Erick & Susana of Columbus, OH; Eric & Minoli Gengler and Rohan & Wolfgang of Chicago, IL; Brenda Gengler also of Chicago; and Teresa & Erik Peterson of Revillo, SD.

Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock were glad to have most of their children home for the holidays.  Their daughter, Amber arrived from New York City with many great and funny stories of the crazy East Coast. Mary, Stephen and Nichole were all home from Benedictine College. They love college life but were ready for a much-needed break from their studies. Wade was not able to be with the rest of the family as he is still in Kuwait working with internal affairs. They all missed him but had a very happy time together.

Ken & Vickie Leinen and McKenna travelled to Rochester, MN to spend Christmas with her parents, Art & Millie Brandt. Vickie was pleased that most of her family was there; only one brother was not able to join them.  The family was able to share a Christmas visit with Vickie's daughter, Jenny and her husband Jared via Skype.  Jenny was on liberty in Dubai (located south east of the Persian Gulf) for five days and Jared spent Christmas in Seattle, WA with his father.   Colt Bullerman, Adrian and Kait Leinen, Sioux Falls joined the Brandt family gathering on Christmas Eve.

Scott & Janelle Vis and Jason & Jenna of Brandon, SD were Christmas Day guests in the home of her parents, Tom & Mary Krogman to not only celebrated Christmas but also to honor Tom on his 60th birthday.  Happy belated birthday, Tom!

Ruth Hubbling was a guest in the Nick & Shianne Krogman home in Pleasant Prairie, WI.  She spent time spoiling their two daughters as well as become acquainted with their newborn son, Jacob Ryan (12/12/12).  Other guests included Carrie Krogman & her daughter, Elizabeth.  Elizabeth was home for the holidays from Japan where she is a teacher.  Before returning to Japan, she will travel to Italy for ten days.

Deb and Dave Lutmer were overnight guests in the home of her sister, Carol Giroux of Wheaton, MN last Thursday.  The Lutmers were enroute to Crookston where they attended the funeral of their friend, Walt Keller, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, December 21.  Walt (61) had been courageously battling cancer for the past year, enduring many surgeries and treatments in Rochester.  He had recently retired from the Polk County Sheriff's Office where he served in many capacities, including Investigator, Sergeant, Chief Deputy, Assistant Medical Examiner, and was a certified Polygraph Operator.  As a tribute to their fallen comrade, about 50 law enforcement officers lined the entrance as Walt's casket was brought into the church. Walt was extremely involved in many church, community, and Veterans activities.  God Bless the memory of Walt Keller.

Last Saturday found the Ray LeBrun family gathered to celebrate an early Christmas.  Those present were Ray & Bette; Steve & Cheri LeBrun and Brett and Troy and Kyle and Tina all of Lafayette; Marty & Josie LeBrun and Emily and Sam and Jim & Anne LeBrun and Brandon and his friend, Kaylee Gunnick, all of Adrian; Wendy LeBrun of Moorhead; Jack & LeeAnn LeBrun of Sioux Falls and Dillon of Vermillion; Dustin LeBrun, Brookings and his friend, Elice Humke of Sioux Falls; Niki & Jed Siefert and brother Darin of Washington, DC; Lance and Emily Dorschner and little Wyatt of Marshall; Bill & Patty LeBrun and Lauren, Miranda and Morgan all of Reading and their friend, Jacob Weg of Worthington; Alex LeBrun from Lismore and Tyler & Anna LeBrun from Gwinner, ND.  Everyone enjoyed their time together catching up on each other’s activities.  Congratulations were in order for Dustin LeBrun who had just graduation from SDSU in December.  Ray & Bette were Christmas Eve guests with the Bill LeBrun family in Reading and Christmas Day was spent with the Marty LeBrun family in Adrian.

It was good to see former Lismore resident, Alma Krogman, pictured in a recent edition of the Star Herald.  The Luverne High School Peer Helpers held a cookie frosting party at the Oaks senior living facility.

Mark & Pam Luettel brought supper to her mom, Joyce Erdman's home on Christmas Eve.  After attending the 5:00 PM Mass at St. Anthony's, they enjoyed some very good fish! Mark and his good friend, the late Dwayne Bents, had caught them on one of their last fishing trips together. This was only the second time Earl and Joyce were unable to be together on Christmas Eve; the first time was when Earl was in Korea on December 25,1953.

Christmas Day noon guests in the home of Earl & Joyce Erdman were: Earl Erdman, a Resident at the MN Veterans Home in Luverne; Rod & Ruth Erdman, Pipestone; Pam & Mark Luettel, Adrian; Bruce & Lindsay Meyeraan and Ian, Luverne; Peggy & Mark Meyer and Natasha & Vern Schutte, all of Rushmore; Matthew Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD; Alyssa Meyer, St. Cloud; Gail Erdman, Primghar, IA; Justin & Meredith Jonas and Brooke, Sheldon, IA; Randy Egenes and Grace & Cody, Hawarden, IA; Mike Erdman and Laura, Lismore; Jessica Erdman & Montana and Bob Slinger, Rushmore; Megan Erdman, Adrian; Amber Erdman & Christian and Chris Davis, all of Worthington and Heather Kilffer, Leota.

Father Jeffrey Dobbs, Spiritual Director at Immaculate Heart Seminary in Winona, celebrated another memorable Christmas Eve Mass at St. Anthony.  The choir filled the church with beautiful Christmas music, complete with Nick Lorang on the trumpet.  Mark Loosbrock sang a song that has become a Christmas tradition, “O Holy Night”.  Fr. Dobbs commented on the liturgy, the decorations, the music, and praised those involved in the liturgy.  It is such a blessing to have a Christmas Eve Mass in our beautiful church! It was also a pleasure to see a handsome US Marine soldier in his dress blue uniform at Christmas Eve Mass.  That young man would be Dylan Johnson, son of Patty Johnson and grandson of Darleen Lutmer.  Dylan is home on leave from Ft. Sills, OK and will return in January.

Ct. St. Bernard #886, Catholic Daughters of the Americas will hold their annual baby shower at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00 p.m.  All baby items (unwrapped) and cash donations will be given to the Helping Hands Pregnancy Center in Worthington.  A display will be set up in the back of St. Anthony’s church for donations to be dropped off until February 6th.  Everyone is invited to participate.

Joyce Erdman attended the wedding reception of David & Kim Hoffer on Saturday at the Adrian Legion Hall.  Other family members joining Joyce were: Pam & Mark Luettel, Adrian, Mark Meyer, Rushmore and Rod & Ruth Erdman, Pipestone.  David is the nephew of Joyce and Earl Erdman and the son of Connie and Gary Hoffer of Adrian.
