Pinochle scores for April 4th: 1st - Marilyn Bergman and Connie Lais - 2nd - Jim Reese and Steve Banck - 3rd - Mike Schettler and “Cannon” Mueller. How about our two gals coming in first! Big Orv reports that last week was the last time for pinochle until this fall.
Gleaned from the April 5th edition of the Argus Leader’s ‘Our Outdoors’ were three pictures of Todd Heitkamp and his passion for fishing! One was a beautiful colored picture of Todd fishing along the Big Sioux River off 60th Street North last Tuesday in Sioux Falls. I will be giving this section to Carl Heitkamp who is Todd’s uncle.
Saturday was a busy day for a lot of gals! There was a shower for Miss Lindsey Loosbrock, daughter of Gary and Vicki Loosbrock, in Lismore. Lindsey is the bride-to-be of Ryan Henning, son of Scott and Kathy. Lindsey’s chosen colors of royal blue and lime green decorated all the tables. The breakfast brunch was delicious with plenty of juice and hot coffee. Lindsey had so many lovely gifts to open. Quite a few guests had to leave a little early to attend another shower in Adrian! This shower was for Kim Casper, bride-to-be of Pete Hohn, son of Linda and Denny. The brides chosen colors of royal blue and champagne decorated all the tables! The delicious brunch included salads and chicken salad sandwiches with iced tea and coffee. It was most delicious. It was fun for all to greet and visit with loyal Diane Lynch of Mankato, Mary Wagner of Wothington, and Karen Diede, a loyal employee of the former Hohn John Deere business in Adrian. Pete Hohn always reads the Adrian News so a special “Hi Pete”!
A large crowd attended the spring dinner at St. Kilian on Sunday, April 7th. Although we had a grey cloudy day with a few sprinkles, the smell of the good food was most welcome! Good tender roast beef and the best mashed potatoes from Keith’s Grocery Store were a treat! The carrots are always so good. I made a few inquires about the carrots and found out that Randy and Karen Honermann planted most of the carrots, watered them, dug them up, cleaned off the dirt and brought them to St. Kilian Hall where a group from the church got them ready for freezing. They are placed in plastic bags after pre boiling a bit. After a long winters nap they are thawed out and fixed for the spring dinner! Don’t ever think that I don’t do my homework! St. Kilian can be so proud of their church, their town and the people who work so hard to keep it all together! Thanks for a delicious dinner and the great service. By the way the centerpieces were unique and colorful!
Don’t forget to keep praying for rain!
Didn’t know Rose Henriksen had knee replacement surgery over two weeks ago! She kept that pretty well undercover! She was at Pete Hohn and Kim Casper shower and did so well. Our best wishes Rose and a speedy recovery. Also Deb Kroon had rotator surgery and was still able to work at a bridal shower Saturday with her left arm in a sling! Can’t keep a good gal down! Best wishes to you Deb and we wish you a speedy recovery also!
We are so happy to report that Dorence McCarthy came home in good condition after a scary and frightening four days in the hospital in Sioux Falls. Dorence is grateful for all the prayers he received and told me he thanked God many times for the miracle he received! The whole Mc Carthy family is grateful for all the good deeds and all the prayers said for their families.
Before spring work begins Vern and Sandy Suedkamp took a few days off and flew to Tusan, Arizona to visit the Dick Suedkamp family. Dick and Vern had a few rounds of golf! They also went to San Diego to visit brother Ed and Becky Sued-kamp. The weather was beautiful and the visit there was great because sister Ellen Suedkamp flew in from Florida and sister Judy Percer drove over from Los Angeles. They had a good family reunion and after several days Vern and Sandy went home with Judy. Again the weather was beautiful and the family had lots of laughs, lots of good food and a really fun time. Finally Vern and Sandy came home to cold weather on Good Friday. Then the Suedkamps had a surprise visit from Jo Ann Klein of Conrad, Iowa. They had a wonderful two hour visit. Jo Ann was on her way to visit her son Kevin Klein and family in South Dakota. All the Kleins were meeting that Saturday for an Easter reunion. Jo Ann will remain on their beautiful acreage in Conrad after the death of her husband Bob. Lots of Bob’s classmates attended Bob’s funeral and Jo Ann was so grateful for their presence.
