By Kristine Kern Review Staff Writer A spring ice storm whipped through Southwest Minnesota Tuesday, April 9th. The first wave of the storm carried freezing rain that coated power lines and trees with ice. Along with the freezing rain came howling winds gusting up to 40 plus miles per hour. Tree limbs and power lines started coming down Tuesday morning prompting area schools to close and sending students home Tuesday. Schools remained closed the rest of the week due to power outages. The ice storm was followed by 8 to 9 inches of wet heavy snow Wednesday and Thursday.
