Adrian Speech brings home three medals from State Speech Competition Lorang, Preuss and McCarthy bring home state honors

State Speech fifth place winner in Great Speeches Amber Preuss, 1st place winner Nick Lorang and fifth place winner in Informative Speaking Tommy McCarthy with their state medals
Eleven Speech Team members qualified to compete at the state competition.
Senior Nick Lorang earned first place and the state championship title in Great Speeches Saturday, April 20 at the Minnesota State High School Class A Speech Tournament. His presentation analyzed a former president Bill Clinton speech entitled “The Freedom to Die.”

Two other Adrian students earned medals in the day-long event at Blaine High School. AHS junior, Amber Preuss was fifth in Great Speeches, analyzing a speech by Helen Gahagan Douglas entitled “My Democratic Credo.” Sophomore Tommy McCarthy placed fifth in Informative Speaking with his speech entitled “Greener on the Other Side.” His speech looked at the historical, social and health effects of America’s lawns.
