The AHS golf teams were back on the course on Monday afternoon at the Adrian Country Club. Fulda and Westbrook-Walnut Grove traveled to Adrian to take part in the triangular. Adrian played much improved golf in comparison to their first outing last Friday in Worthington.
Katie Wieneke led the Lady Dragons to victory by firing a 44, which was just enough to give her medalist honors for the day. She edged Madeline Westra of Fulda by one stroke. Adrian defeated Fulda by a score of 197 - 201. The WWG girls had an incomplete team. All of the girls were very solid in their rounds and scored much better in their second meet. Sam Boyle (50), Jada Elias (51), Marissa Veld (52), Alexia Kemper (52), and MacKenzie Wagner (56) all contributed to the team effort and a very nice win against a tough Fulda team. The season record for the girls moves to 2 - 1.
The Adrian boys also came through with a solid team performance and improved on Friday's team total by 23 strokes! Justin Elias led the way for the Dragons by carding a 41 which was good for runner up position in the meet.
Adrian defeated perennial power Westbrook-Walnut Grove by 5 strokes for the win. Team scores for the day were: Adrian (182), WWG (187), amd Fulda (225). Also turning in solid scores for the Dragons were Ben Henning (44), Collin Kemper (48), Ryan Elias (49), Tommy McCarthy (49), and Coltin Klosterman (58). The win puts the boys season record at 3 - 2. Competition continues for both of the Dragon teams on Tuesday as they travel to Sanborn to take on the Red Rock Central golf teams.
