AA won two important Red Rock Conference games at Ellsworth on April 30th.
Game 1: vs. Mountain lake

AA won two important Red Rock Conference games at Ellsworth on April 30th. Winning game one with senior Rachel Kontz going the distance. Kontz allowed eight earned runs, fanned 9 and walked 2 for the win.

The winners collected 8 hits compared to MLA’s 10.

Courtney Vaske had the hot bat going 2 for 4, one a homerun and the other a double. Vaske also had 3 RBI. Harlie Homan, Rachel Kontz, Sam Croat, Danielle De Beer, Bailey Grussing, and Amy Bents each had one single for AA.

The winners were charted with 8 errors compared to 5 by MLA. Players of the Week vs. MLA; Game 1

Courtney Vaske 2 for 4 1 double 1 homerun 3 RBI 3 runs

Bailey Grussing 1 homerun errorless defense 2 runs 1 RBI

Game 2 vs. Mountain Lake

The varsity girls softball team defeated MLA 15-5 in a game called after 6 innings because of the 10 run rule.

The winners collected 15 hits in the contest with Heidi Nolte going 3 for 4, Courtney Vaske 2 for 3, (one a double), Rachel Kontz 2 for 4 and Autumn Engelkes 2 for 4, (one a double). Harlie Homan, Bailey Grussing, Sam Croat, a double, Danielle De Beer and Amy Bents each banged out a single.

Rachel Kontz and Bailey Grussing were each credited with 3 RBI. Sam Croat and Autumn Engelkes added 2 RBI each.

Rachel Kontz went the distance on the mound for the win. Kontz game up 5 earned runs, 11 hits, fanned 3 for her fourth win on the season.

“As the varsity coach these two Red Rock Conference games hitting display was the best of any team in my five seasons of coaching. Wow! 22 hits in 13 innings which included 2 homeruns, 1 triple, and 5 doubles. This is the most fun that the team and myself have had in our softball career,” stated Coach Schnaible.

Heidi Nolte 3 for 4 at plate 2 RBI Errorless defense 2 runs

Courtney Vaske 2 for 3 at plate 1 double Outstanding defense as a catcher

Bailey Grussing Errorless defense 3 RBI 1 double

Autumn Engelkes 2 for 4 1 double 2 RBI 2 runs

Rachel Kontz 2 for 4 3 RBI 2 runs Winning hurler

Sam Croat 1 double 2 RBI Errorless defense
