An appreciation open house was held at the Wilmont Recreation Center on Sunday, April 28th. Those attending from Adrian were: Lori Klooster, Helen Mauch and Alice Thier. Those three ladies bowled in the afternoon league. The Center was established in 1974 and operated 38 years under the leadership of a Board of Directors. The Recreation Center was recently purchased by Dave Wilson from Good Thunder, Minnesota. We in the Adrian area wish Mr. Wilson much success and we also congratulate Wilmont for their hard work in keeping the center alive and well!
Alarie Greder was guest of honor at a lovely bridal shower held at the St. Adrian Education Center on Saturday morning, May 4th starting at 9:30 a.m. The tables were beautiful with babies breath in crystal vases and the bride’s color of teal blue was used throughout the room. Alarie is the bride-to-be of Levi Bullerman and the couple received so many (no duplicates) lovely and useful gifts. Alarie introduced her mom Rhonda Greder, her maid of honor and grandmother Kathyrn (Bullerman) Bauer and flower girl who were seated at the head table along with Levi’s mother, Cindy Bullerman. It was a cool rainy morning, but inside the CCD Building it was warm, friendly with lots of “goodies” at the brunch and lots of hot coffee! Congratulations Alarie and Levi! The couple will be married in June at St. Adrian.
Did you all remember to thank God for the most welcome rain? It is never to late to pray. God hears every prayer! Great!
A big crowd came to the Adrian High Cafeteria last Friday, May 3rd to feast on the huge hamburgers, and all the trimmings, plus cold drinks and bars. The burgers came from the Countryside Inn and were served by the Music Parents, they were delicious, as usual. After the good supper the crowd went to the “big” gym to listen to the last Spring Concert. When I say last, I mean for the 20 seniors who will be graduating this year! The High School Choir and bands are under the direction of Miss Deb Mc Neill and Sarah Jennsen is Director of the Middle School Choir. What a magnificent job those two directors do! There are 31 in High School band and 90 in High School choir, 45 in Middle School band and 58 in Middle School choir. So you can see how many love to sing and play instruments. Thanks to Kerry Sauer who saved me a front row seat. It was a good evening and lots of individual singers and players.
Congratulations to Mr. Randy Strand who was inducted into the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association “Hall of Fame”. This event took place April 26th on the campus of St. Thomas University in St. Paul. Besides coaching the girls basketball teams for 27 seasons Mr. Strand has also coached Adrian football teams for 28 years. Mr. Strand gave lots of credit to his assistant coaches, his players, the administration and his family. Again, congratulations.
Daughter Mary Taylor and her sister Ann Hoemberg were among the huge crowd who attended the wake service and funeral of former Adrianite Rosemary (Vanderah) Rossini whose funeral was held April 24th Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in St. Paul where she and her husband attended church for 68 years! They were the parents of eight children and 20 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose-mary lived a life of devotion to her husband and children and was a very hard worker at her home, her community and her beloved church. She is now at peace with her Lord and will be dearly missed. Blessed be the memory of Rosemary Rossini.
May 3rd issue of Sioux Falls Argus Leader featured the Blue Mounds State Park where the buffalo roam. The article is long with several great pictures of an agenda of things you do not want to miss. The Blue Mounds State Park covers 534 fenced in acres. The herd of about 75 bisons can be seen in this area. The whole Blue Mounds State Park is roughly 1500 acres! Lots of things to do! .
Readers - did you know Rock County is the only county in Minnesota that does not have a lake?
