NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 514
ELLSWORTH PUBLIC SCHOOL
STATE OF MINNESOTA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a special election has been called and will be held in and for Independent School District No. 514, Ellsworth Public School, State of Minnesota, on Tuesday, the 5th day of November, 2013, for the purpose of voting on the following question:
SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION
APPROVAL OF ADDITIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
REFERENDUM REVENUE AUTHORIZATION.
The Board of Independent School District No. 514, Ellsworth Public School, has proposed to revoke its existing referendum revenue authorization, equal to $1,139.11 per pupil and replace it with referendum authorization in the amount of $1,845.00 per pupil, resulting in an increase in its authorization of $705.89 per pupil. The proposed referendum revenue authorization would be applicable for ten years unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.
Shall the revocation of the existing authorization and increase in revenue proposed by the Board of Independent School District No. 514 be approved?
BY VOTING “YES” ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU ARE VOTING FOR A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.
The annual dollar increase for typical residential homesteads, apartments, commercial-industrial properties, and most other classes of property within the school district are as shown in the table below:

For agricultural property (both homestead and non-homestead), the taxes for the proposed referendum will be based on the value of the house, garage and surrounding one acre of land only. There will be no referendum taxes paid on the value of other agricultural lands and buildings. For seasonal residential recreational property (i.e. cabins), there will be no taxes paid for the proposed referendum.
Passage of this referendum will result in an increase in your property taxes.
Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 205A.11, the school district combined polling place and the precinct served by that polling place, as previously established by school board resolution for school district elections not held on the day of a statewide election, is hereby designated for this special election.

Polling Hours: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A voter must be registered to vote to be eligible to vote in this election. An unregistered individual may register to vote at the polling place on Election Day.
