Ellsworth woke up New Year's morning to a very unwelcome surprise ! ! !  A water leak on main street left many in the town with no water.  

NOTICE:  Due to the extreme cold this week, the Ellsworth American Legion will NOT meet on Wednesday, January 8th.

  Skip Birkett was a Tuesday caller with Ethel Siemer and Jim Mulder.  On Wednesday Dwaine and Wilma Kruse visited with Jim.

  Congratulations to Sweer and Florence Arends, they became  great-grandparent on Friday January 3, 2014.  Jessie and Heather Postma, Valley Spring SD had a baby girl.  Brother Logan welcomes her home. Grandpar-ents are Glen and Barb Arends, Lester IA.  Great aunt Sharon Arends is ready to spoil the new baby.

Catholic Mass will be held every Friday during the winter at 9:30 in Parkview Manor Nursing Home .  The public is welcome to attend and join the fellowship that follows.

Christmas Eve guests with Dave and Linda Boyenga were Tim and Sherrie Haken, Rushmore, Daryl, Sharon and Jennifer Buss, Eden Prairie, Jorey and Vanessa Haken, Minneapolis.  They all were at Dave and Linda's Christmas Day.  Conner Haken Vermillion SD joined them.  

Sunday dinner guests with Wayne and Diane Schweitzer were Kristin, Karson and Kayne Jurrens; Joel Vis, Katie Korthals and Devin, all from Rock Rapids IA.  They helped Kristin celebrate her birthday.

  Sweer and Florence Arends attended the visitation for Dale Pick at St. Catherine's Church in Luverne on Friday Evening.

  Recent visitors with Jim Mulder were Donna Reisdorfer, Atlanta Georgia; Carol Mulder, Lena Wiertzema, Ellsworth and Jerre Wiertzema, Adrian.
