The Bishop's Medal of Service has been awarded to Mary Ann Spieker of rural Kenneth. Bishop Quinn presented the award to Mary Ann on behalf of the Diocese of Winona for her many years of volunteer service to her parish and community. At the Saturday evening Mass at St. Anthony's, Mary Ann was thankful for this honor, but was quick to give credit to her family and other community members for their help and assistance along the way. Mary Ann has been a member of St. Anthony for all of her 90 years on this earth. She has been a leader and officer for CCW, CDA, and the Christian Mothers. In addition to raising seven children of her own, she and her late husband, Cletus were instrumental in the lives of 73 foster children! She still found time to spearhead the mission workshop in her home where she completed over five thousand quilts and other various sewing projects to help the needy. A true example of a faith filled, unselfish, and charitable individual, Mary Ann is most deserving of this esteemed honor. Congratulations, Mary Ann!
