A beautiful Memorial Service was held for Olga Kramer on Monday, June 30th at St. Adrian. The funeral Mass was officiated by Father Andrew Beerman. Friend Ron Heitkamp was chosen to carry Olga’s Urn into the church and also out to the cemetery. Olga’s three daughters, Pat, Pam and Penny planned their mother’s funeral at her direction. Olga has been gone from Adrian since 1996. She lived the last years of her life with her daughter Penny and Jerry Holmes of Vista, CA. Beside her three daughters Olga has seven grandchildren. It was good to see so many of Olga’s old friends and relatives and enjoy the meal at the Countryside Inn! Of course Olga’s favorite food was broasted chicken! Blessed be the memory of good friend and good mother, Olga Kramer!

Good to see some of Leo and Mary Schweitzer’s family in church on Sunday! They are spending time on the family farm south of Adrian. that place is always kept so clean and neat. Lots of good memories! The Mass last Sunday was dedicated to the family of Mary and Leo Schweitzer.
All of Rock County and especially the little town of Steen, MN, was shocked at the tragic and untimely death of 33 year old Andrea Boeve who lived on a farm just outside of Steen. She was a beautiful, talented vivacious young mother and wife whose life was her family and her work as a nurse. We all ask the same question “why”? What we do know is that our loving God never makes a mistake! Perhaps by Andrea’s death, hundreds or thousands of lives will be saved by the simple act of not using a cell phone when driving! This writer has heard two people say “this terrible accident has taught me a lesson - I will never use my cellphone again while driving.” What a powerful lesson Andrea’s death has given. May God bless Andrea’s memory, bless her husband Matt and her two little girls. May our loving God be very close to all of Andrea’s family and friends.
Ann Hoemberg of Blaine, MN, made a quick trip to Adrian on the evening of July 3rd. She came especially to meet her old friend and 1978 classmate Donnette Olson of Eullis, Texas. Donnette and her sister Deb brought their mom Doris Olson back to Adrian where she will make her home in the Assisted Living Cottages in Adrian. Son, David Olson was also in Adrian. Doris raised a great family of four “kids”. Now those four “kids” are taking care of mom! Ann also saw friend July (Loosbrock) Ripley, her daughter from France, Deb Olson, Kathleen Loosbrock and her daughter! They all had a good visit and Ann saw her mom Kay between visits with her pals! She left on July 4th after visiting with classmate, Ann (Klein) Schieck at her home. A fast but enjoyable trip to Adrian!

Descendants of Jacob and Margaret (Lenz) Ruffing gathered for a long overdue reunion on Sat. June 28 in Adrian. They met at the lower park shelter at 11:00 AM, greeting other cousins as they arrived, catching up on the years since the last reunion in 1998. They enjoyed a delicious noon meal catered by Keith's and continued socializing throughout the afternoon. They were blessed with a beautiful day, contrary to the forecast of rain!
Jacob and Margaret had eleven children: Ida Hendel, Alma Holzmer, Hilda Carlson, Molly Ruffing, Martha (Jun 1906 - Mar 2009), Hermina Spartz, Lauretta Hensen, Leander Ruffing, Harold Ruffing, Vincent Ruffing and Eddie Ruffing. Can you imagine having seven girls and then four boys? All families except Vincent and Eddie were represented at the reunion. Of the 23 cousins, four are deceased: Carol Ruffing, Robert Hendel, Lyle Spartz and Donna (Hendel) Healy.
Earlier in the year, a committee of Marge (Ruffing) Wenker, her daughter Renee Doetkott, Joan (Hendel) Wolf and Ruth (Hendel) Lorang decided to update the family data that had been compiled for the 1998 reunion. Renee is very computer savy and volunteered to make a book, others contacted family members for changes in their families. Nearly 300 pages later, Renee brought the finished product, complete with many pictures, to the reunion on a flash drive and had it showing on a computer throughout the day. Those who attended were able to get it transferred to their own flash drive right there! They look forward to the next Ruffing cousins reunion, hopefully before another 16 years go by!
