Dragons go 2-0 in Hartley

The Adrian wrestlers traveled to Hartley, IA last Thursday, to take on Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and Kingsley-Pierson.  The Dragons defeated HMS by a 60-9 margin, before defeating Kinglsey-Pierson 58-18.

Adrian won four of the six matches that took place against HMS and accepted six forfeits in the dual.  Isaac Bullerman starting things off for the Dragons with a fall in 1:59 over Chase VerBrugge at 132.  Logan Sherer, Quentin Wolf, and Cameron Wieneke also won by fall for the Dragons in the dual.  Jesus Anaya, Breyer Hieronimus, Rilee Heidebrink, Logan Taylor, Brody Loosbrock and Max Lehmann accepted forfeits in the dual.

The second dual of the evening started at 132 pounds, with Isaac Bullerman earning another first period fall, pinning Nick Smith in 31 seconds.  Brody Loosbrock accepted his second forfeit of the night at 138 pounds. K-P earned a win at 145, before Logan Sherer jumped out to an early lead over Jaren Spink, eventually earning a fall in 3:44.  Quentin Wolf earned his second fall of the evening with a fall over Zace Morey in 1:03.  K-P won the next two matches by forfeit and fall, respectively, before Max Lehmann came from behind to earn a fall at 195.  A forfeit to Jaren Winselman at 220 and a double forfeit at HWT, put the 106 pounders on the mat. Jesus Anaya worked his way to fall in 1:50 to put the Dragons up by a 42-18 margin. Breyer Hieronimus earned a fall at 1:59 over his 113 pound opponent.  Rilee Heidebrink worked his way to a fall in 3:24 at 120 pounds, before Logan Taylor took the mat at 126 pounds.  Taylor gave up an early takedown to Damon Smid, but took control in the second period, working his way to an 11-4 lead.  Taylor earned an escape and takedown late in the match to earn the major decision victory by a 14-6 margin.  The win ended the dual with the Dragons on top by a 58-18 margin.

Isaac Bullerman was voted the varsity Outstanding Wrestler, as he went 2-0 with a pair of first period falls.
