A week with rain is what we needed and it is said guardedly. The amounts varied widely but no one has been washed out that I know of. That could change during the week, but so far most are happy. Grass mowing will continue. The July fourth holiday celebrations went on as planned and President Trump had his say.

There is an increase in larger gatherings and I too feel the need for the interaction, the big party atmosphere and celebrating with friends and the broad array of humanity. Staying at home when possible seems to be prudent particularly when it’s an event inside. The restaurants and grocery stores offer curb side pick-up. I will get my groceries if it is not overcrowded and make other purchases with little fear but I want nothing to do with large groups anywhere. We are a long way from seeing the end of our predicament. I plan to attend  no beach parties and few groups things. Tempting fate will not end this.

It’s the local economy that needs our support. Businesses and their employees are at risk right here at home. You, your friends, relatives and neighbors are hanging on but businesses need your support. The big box store or on-line companies won’t be there for you or your church, school or community. Think local, help your neighbor.

Johnny’s mother sees the young boy tiptoeing down the hall with a bucket of water.

She asks, “Johnny, why are you tiptoeing around with a bucket of water?”

Johnny answers, “Dad asked me to quietly wake him at five.”
