Knights end Dragon season

The Adrian Dragons got a 7-0 lead midway through the second quarter, but it was all RTR after that.  The Knights scored 30 unanswered points to get a 30-7 win in the opening round of section playoffs.

The Knights received the first half kickoff.  Adrian was up the challenge defensively as they forced a quick three and out to get the ball.  The Dragons were able to gain two first downs and 39 yards of offense before having to punt the ball back to RTR.

The Knights were able to get some things going offensively on their second drive.  They gained three first downs and moved the ball out to midfield.  Brandon Schnoor put an end to the drive when he intercepted a pass to give the Dragons the ball back.

The Dragons turned the turnover into points after Schnoor scored on a five yard touchdown run.  The drive was highlighted by a fourth down conversion pass from Ian Stamer to Brady Vortherms.  Vortherms converted the extra point to give the Dragons a 7-0 lead with 7:32 to play in the second quarter.

RTR answered quickly as they completed a 39 yard pass on third down to score their first touchdown of the game.  Their PAT was good, tying the game at seven.

The Dragons could not get the momentum back as a fumbled handoff gave RTR the ball right back.  It then took RTR only three plays to drive 19 yards for their second touchdown.  The PAT was again good, giving RTR a 14-7 lead with 5:50 to play in the half.

The Dragons drove all the way down the field on their next offensive possession, but ran out of time on the five yard line to end the half trailing by a score of 7-14.

The second half was all RTR as the Dragons struggled to get anything going offensively.  In the end, RTR came away with a 30-7 win to advance in the section 3A playoffs.
