Lady Dragons remain undefeated

The Lady Dragons have a winning attitude and it is coming through on the volleyball court.  The Dragons remain undefeated with a five set win over Westbrook Walnut Grove on Thursday followed up by a sweep through the West brook-Walnust Grove Tournament on Saturday.

On Thursday the Lady Dragons hosted the Chargers in a thrilling five set match that tested both teams.  The Dragons fell early to the Chargers 21-25 in the first game but battled back to win the next two games 25-18 and 25-21.  The fourth game went into to extra points as neither wanted to bend.  The Chargers weren’t ready to load the bus yet and prevailed to win the fourth game 26-18.  Going into the fifth game the Dragons tightened their game offensively and defensively to pull ahead and win the game 15-8 and putting another win in their column.

Offensively Miah Kunkel and Bailey Lonneman led the Dragons with 18 kills apiece.  Setter Kasie Tweet dished up 36 set assists.  Defensively libero Mayssa Tweet led the Dragons with 11 digs.

The Lady Dragons travelled to Westbrook on Saturday to take part in the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Invitational.

The team swept through the tournament earning wins over New Ulm Cathedral 25-15 and 25-13, Springfield 25-14 and 25-14, Fulda 25-15 and 25-7, Westbrook-Walnut Grove 25-21 and 25-17 and Dawson Boyd 27-25 and 25-18 earning them the Championship for the first time.

The Lady Dragons will travel to Lamberton on the 13th to take on Red Rock Central and will make the short trip to Ellsworth on the 20th to meet up with the Panthers.
