Adrian News 02-12-20

It’s the second week of February.  Valentine’s Day right around the corner.  With all of the fuss and the hype, do you ever stop to think of those who are alone with no one to celebrate Valentine’s Day with?  Maybe we make too much of it?  Food for thought!

Last Friday night, the Wrestling Club honored Coach Bruce Loosbrock at the final wrestling meet of the season.  An awesome banner that was made will now hang in the wrestling room, and his picture near the trophy cases.  It was said by one person attending that it made her proud to be a Dragon.  Rest in peace, Coach Loosbrock, knowing you made such a positive impact on so many.

Molly Einck would have turned three this Thursday.  Over the weekend I had the chance to spend time with Melissa and Mike talking about Molly. They will take her ceiling tile to the Castle of Care in Sioux Falls along with 30 blankets that were made.  With all of the heart-ache, they are thinking of the help they can give to others.  Watch for details for the upcoming benefit for the new foundation the Einck’s are starting.  The event will be held in April.  I pray for special blessings on those who have lost a child.

Thursday, February 13th is $2 Meal Day at the Adrian Senior Dining Center.  On the menu is ham, scalloped potatoes, squash, dinner roll and a bar.  Be sure to sign up ahead of time at 483-2588.

AHS had a busy week with Snow week.  On Friday, it was drive a snowmobile to school day.  It was very noisy around 8 a.m.-sounded like a lot of machines.  I counted five and one side-by-side.  Not as many as there are when they bring tractors, but still fun.      Friday was the 100th day of school for the 2019-20 school year. The AES students and teachers celebrated by dressing as century old people.  Make sure to check out the pictures in the Review.

Thank goodness we didn’t get the snow they thought we might over the weekend.  It was just enough to make everything white again.

The wrestlers did well as they finished up the regular season, taking both matches on Friday night. The BBB team is 7-6 in Red Rock Conference play and 12-9 overall.  The gymnastics squad continues to do well and hockey has been winning.  Girl’s BBB has been quiet this past week-no scores have been turned in.  Up for this week: Thursday, Feb. 13 –the wrestlers begin team sections at Canby; GBB is away at MCC. Friday, Feb. 14– MS BBB-end of the year celebration; GBB is at home in Adrian; BBB is away at MLA; Hockey is at home in Luverne.  Saturday, Feb. 15- Speech is in

Luverne; Gymnastics Sections TBD; WR-team sections at Lamberton.  Monday, Feb. 17- GBB at home against MLA-C.

There is a lot of flu traveling around at this time-both upper respiratory as well as stomach.  Keep in mind all those who need extra prayers.  Also keep your hands clean and your sneezes/coughs covered.  Protect yourself and others!

Thought for the week: Trial and error is the road to success, and you can’t drive that road as long as your car is parked.  So get moving and God will direct you.

Have a great week!
