Adrian News 10-02-19

What strange weather we are having.  One morning it is in the 40s and the next it’s in the 70s.  Aren’t you kind of concerned about the winter?  Take it one month at a time.  Let’s hope October stays nice for all of the fall work and for harvest!

Tony and Darla Parsley are again collecting coats from now through the end of October.  If you have gently used coats of any size or any winter clothing, please drop them off at 517 Maine Ave., so someone who is in need will get warm clothes before winter sets in.

Haven’t heard the cicadas in some time, but Monday morning with the temps being warm and muggy, they were singing once again.  Really strange!

Things are changing once again in Adrian.  Meredith Vaselaar has put in her notice at the library and the hours have changed.   At the beginning of September the Nobles County Review posted new Saturday hours.  Now they have been taken away.  Be sure to check out the new hours posted in this edition of the paper before you make a trip to the library.

Adrian Country Living Cottages is also seeing some changes.  Director Karen Rye has turned in her notice.  She has taken a job for Avera in Sioux Falls.  We will have more information hopefully for next week’s paper.

This past weekend was the Festival of Bands in Luverne.  It was a cool morning, but turned out to be a nice day.  AHS placed 3rd in competition, but they were up against a number of schools with bigger programs.  This coming weekend the band travels to Sioux Falls for another competition.  Good luck to the marching band.  They sound good in the morning!

The Volleyball team remains undefeated 6 weeks into the season.  Congratulations!  The football team didn’t fare as well against Wabasso this past weekend, being defeated by a score of  34-0.  There was no report of how the cross country team did.  Up for this coming week: varsity football is scheduled for a home game on Friday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m.  Volleyball is at home against Pipestone on Thursday, Oct. 3 and at the Marshall Invite on Friday/Saturday.  Cross Country runs in Luverne on Weds. Oct. 3 and hosts the Adrian invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 8tb.

Coming up for the Senior dining center is Bingo on October 3rd and cards and a meeting on Oct. 8th.  Call ahead for your reservations!

Our deepest sympathies to the family of Charles Fienhage of Wilmont.  He passed away on Saturday, September 28th.  Blessed by his memory.

Keep in your prayers all of the people who need extra prayers.  There are a lot of them.

Watch out for farm equipment on the roads.  Be a pro-active driver.  Sometimes they are preoccupied and it’s up to us to watch out for them.

If you have news to share please contact us at the Nobles County Review 483-2213 or email ncreview@frontier.com.

Thought for the week: Faith is for that which lies on the other side of reason.  Faith is what makes life bearable, with all it’s tragedies and ambiguities and sudden startling joys.  No matter what, keep the faith!

Have a good week!
