Adrian News 8-26-20

Tony and Darla Parsley are again collecting coats, boots, mittens and hats from now through October.  If you have gently used coats of any size or winter clothing, please drop them off at 517 Maine Ave. Someone in need will appreciate a warm coat for the upcoming winter.

Happy Anniversary to Michael and Melanie Wagner.  It makes it tough to celebrate when you are split between home and Nebraska!  Mitchell continues to make great forward progress!  Keep him and the whole family in your prayers.

Another hot week with no rain!  My yard is crispy and I’m having to water pots and flowers a lot, some of the pots daily to keep up with the heat!  I’ve heard the crops are beginning to be affected by the heat/no rain cycle we are in.  I guess we should count our blessings that we are not fighting the fires like some of the states are.

I talked to the Cali Kroons briefly over the weekend.  Mark said it is brutal.  It’s been so hot, and now the smoke.  There are 14,000 firefighters battling close to 2,000 square miles of fires in California.  None are real close to Placerville, but you never know.  Keep in your prayers the firefighters and people affected by these wildfires all over our country.

There are two major storms coming up the Gulf of Mexico.  Those people will also need prayers.

Have you noticed since COVID-19, we don’t hear much other news?  The Democratic National Convention finished up and the Republican Convention is ready to begin.  In a couple of months we will no longer have people bashing each other, just a prolonged stretch of figuring out who won.  Be thinking about getting a mail in ballot if your concerned about going in to vote.  The time is now to get your request in.

The ACC Men’s Club Tournament is this weekend.  The women are done and couples finishes up this week also.  Where did the summer go?

Labor Day is two weeks out and then fall activities will begin.  School will start on Sept. 8 without football and volleyball.  Cross Country is still a go and you will run into the participants if you are out in the morning.  Good luck!  Keep the teachers and students in your prayers as this difficult and strange year begins!

Remember that Adrian’s junk pickup is coming up the week of  September 14.  The City is asking not to put items out before the weekend.  They will

begin picking up junk on Monday, Sept. 14.

Keep all those who need extra prayers for whatever reason on your prayer list.  It’s a good thing God is so big!

Thought for the week: The household of God is much bigger than people who look like us.  Rather, many will come from every race, skin color, gender, tribe, orientation, nation, ability or culture-to eat together at the great feast in God’s banquet hall.  Jesus, you welcome all to Your feast.  Teach us to do the same.

Have a great week and stay cool!
