Legal Notice

Due to the current federal and state emergency declarations and guidance about limiting person-to-person contact due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, by action of the school board of ISD 511, all future meetings of the Adrian Public Schools Board of Education will be conducted in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 13D.021—Meetings by Teleconference or Other Electronic Means – until further notice.

Due to the health pandemic, the school board has determined that it is not feasible for at least one board member, the superintendent, or the school district’s legal counsel to be physically present at the regular meeting location.  It is also not feasible for the public to attend at the regular meeting location due to the health pandemic.

Board Chair Wolf called the special meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 3:56 P.M. on April 28, 2020. Members present via “ZOOM”: Bullerman, Kruger, Kunkel, Lenz, Madison, Wieneke and Wolf.  Also present staff members: C. Koehne, R. Schettler, D. Lutmer, T. Heronimus, M. Horn, R. Remme, J. Henning and . Kruger.

No Board Members were absent.

Board Chair Wolf read the emergency declaration due to the health pandemic.

Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to accept the agenda, following a roll call vote of members, motion carried.

Board Chair introduced the first candidate Molly Schilling for the second round of interviews. Board Chair began the interview with questions for the candidate.

Motion by Kunkel to recess the interviews until 5:10 P.M., seconded by Bullerman, following a roll call vote of members, motion carried.

Board Chair Wolf reconvened board interviews at 5:10 P.M., by introducing the second candidate Michael Pagel.  Board Chair began the interview with questions for the candidate.

Motion by Kunkel to recess the interviews until 6:27 P.M., seconded by Wieneke, following a roll call vote of members,  motion carried.

Board Chair Wolf reconvened board interviews at 6:27 P.M., by introducing the third candidate Bradley Johnson.  Board Chair began the interview with questions for the candidate.

Motion by Kunkel to recess the interviews until 7:30 P.M., seconded by Kruger, following a roll call vote of members, motion carried.

Board Chair Wolf reconvened board interviews deliberation session at 7:30 P.M.  Following deliberation Board Chair suggested that the board make an offer to a candidate.  Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Bullerman to offer a superintendent contract to Molly Schilling, following a roll call vote of members, the motion carried 4 to 3

Motion by Madison, seconded by Lenz to offer the contract to Bradley Johnson in the event Mrs. Schilling declines the offer, following a roll call vote of members, motion carried.

Contract negotiations will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at 4:00 P.M. with the negotiation committee.

Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to adjourn the Special April 28, 2020 teleconference meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 8:11 P.M., following a roll call vote of members, motion carried.
