Adrian students move on to State Knowledge Bowl competition

On Friday, March 3, 2017 Adrian took 30 stuents (7 teams) to compete at the Senior High Knowledge Bowl Sub-Regions Compeition at MN West in Jackson.  Overall, there were 32 teams, consisting of 8 schools.  The schools attending the meet were Adrian, Fulda, Jackson, Mountain Lake, Red Rock Central, Windon, Worthington and Springfield/

Winners for the Sub-Regional Competition were:  First Place-Fulda 1 with 96 points, Worthing 3 with 82.5 points and Adrian 1 was third with 79.5 points.  Adrian  advanced 1 team to the Regional tournament on Friday, March 10 at SMSu in Marshall.  Team members are Colin Varley, Nate Lonneman, Josh Zemler, Blake Madison and Austin Metz.

Winning teams as the sub-region event were awarded plaques and medallions for the students.

108 teams from 35 districts participated int he Senior High Knowledge Bowl Program.

On Friday, March 10, 2017, Adrian’s team competed at the Regional competition at SMSU in Marshall.  Overall, there were 36 teams, consisting of 19 schools.  The schools attending the meet were Adrian, Fulda, Jackson, Mountain Lake, Red Rock Central, Windom, Worthington, Pipestone, HBC, Southwest Christian, MCC, Cedar Mountain, Marshall, Redwood, WWG, Lakeview, Edgerton, Tracy and Springfield.

Adrian team of Colin Varley, Nate Lonneman, Josh Zemler, Blake Madison and Austin Metz came home with 3rd place honors with 84.5 points behind first place Fulda with 95 points and Marshall with 86 points.  The top three teams move on to the State Competition on April 6-7 in Brainerd.

The students are excited to make the state meet, this has been a team goal since middle school knowledge bowl.  Coach Robert Remme states “This team has worked so hard to get here and I am extremely proud of them!”
