Dragon GBB Moves to 500

The Adrian girls’ basketball team moved their overall record to 7-7 reaching the five hundred mark for the first time since the fourth game of the 2016-2017 season. In Red Rock Conference action the Dragons record stands at 6-2. Putting a trio of players in double digits Adrian extended a 10 point halftime lead into a 59-37 win over the Chargers of Westbrook Walnut Grove.

Junior post, Paige Bullerman, gave the Dragons the first lead of the night by scoring the games first four points.  WWG cut the lead in half before Kaitlyn Christians scored a traditional three-point play to push the advantage up to five points at 7-2.

A feisty Chargers team battled themselves back to within a basket before Lexi Slater scored her first fieldgoal of the evening and when Miah Kunkel turned a steal into a driving lay up, Adrian was up and running with a 13-7 lead.

It remained a five to four point lead for the next two minutes before WWG was able to convert a three-point basket followed by a pair of freethrows to close to within a point at 18-17. Freshmen point guard, Moriah Bullerman, found the bottom of the net for her first points making it 20-17.

Christians would then help her team go on a 9-2 rally to finish the first half by scoring seven of the Dragons last nine first period points. When the dust had settled, Adrian held a double-digit lead at 29-19.
