GBB Defeats Ellsworth Panthers

Traveling  south to do battle with the Panthers of Ellsworth the Adrian girls had one of their better shooting nights by putting up 67 points to the Panthers 41 to win by 26. The win stops a three game slide for the girls as they move their Red Rock Conference record to 8-5 while pushing their overall record to 9-10.

Shooting 43% in the opening period the Dragons shot their way to a 29-18 halftime lead as they connected on 13 fieldgoals in 30 attempts. They were 50% (2-4) from the three-point arc. Moriah Bullerman got the visiting Dragons started by knocking down a fifteen footer from the left side on Adrian’s opening possession. The Panthers answered with a fieldgoal to tie the score, before a Paige Bullerman offensive rebound turned into her first points of the night to give Adrian the lead back.

This time the host team dropped in a three-pointer to get their first lead of the night at 5-4. Kaitlyn Christians would then give the Dragons the lead back at 6-5 when she scored her first of five first period baskets. It would be a lead the Dragons would not lose throughout the contest as they put together a 19-6 scoring spree. Hannah Bullerman, returning to action after a three-week injury layoff, provided the offensive spark by scoring five points in the rally.

When Hannah scored her seventh point of the half, it gave Adrian their largest lead of the half at 29-14. Ellsworth would score the last four points of the opening half making it a 29-18 halftime score.

The Panthers scored the first points of the second half as they got an inside basket to drop in for two, Adrian’s Mikayla Jeffers countered that fieldgoal with a “nothing but net” three-pointer to jump-start the Dragon offense again. After trading baskets over a three-minute stretch, Adrian would get inside “the paint points” from Paige Bullerman and Lexi Slater to make it a 38-22 game at the 14:14 mark.
