Lismore News 04-24-19

Long ago Megan Sauer set a goal for herself—to run in the Boston Marathon. A former AHS and Bethany Lutheran College Cross Country standout, Megan qualified for the race after running in the Run for the Lakes Marathon in Brainerd last year.  She began training for the Boston Marathon in January. Running on gravel roads near her home, she injured herself when she stepped in a rut and suffered a partial tear in her Achilles tendon. After a short respite, she continued her training but at a much slower pace; she never considered dropping out of the race. Megan was among 30,349 people to run in the 123rd Boston Marathon this past week. She completed the 26.2-mile race in 3:48:48.  Although it was not her best marathon time, she accomplished her goal despite that aching Achilles tendon!! Following the race, Megan, her father Barry, along with sisters Alyssa and Morgan, enjoyed the rest of the week visiting the many historic sights in Boston.  Congratulations, Megan!
