Alexia Kemper, daughter of Chris & Mindy, placed 6th in the NJCAA Region XI golf tournament. This qualifies her for the NJCAA National championship at LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, FL on May 13-16th.  Congratulations, Alexia, and good luck!

This is the week to dig out all the clutter in your garage, basement or attic! The Spring Clean Up for the City of Lismore has been set for next Monday, May 13th. Many items will be picked up at no charge.  A complete list can be found at the City Hall or at the city’s website www.lismore.govoffice2.com.  Residents are encouraged to take advantage of spring clean up to remove unwanted and unused items from their property

Megan Tweet will be the guest of honor at an open house bridal shower on Saturday, May 18th from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Lismore Legion Hall.  Megan is the bride-to-be of Travis Meinders and the daughter of Jeff & Carol Tweet.  The couple is registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond and Target.  Everyone is welcome.

Jerry & Mary Kellen were April 27th weekend guests in the home of their son, John & Anne Kellen of Waconia. They attended the First Holy Communion for their granddaughter, Amber at the St. Paul Cathedral.

Joyce Erdman was wonderfully surprised on Saturday.  She and her son, Mike, had planned to go to Currant Lake.  They drove by St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore and Joyce wondered why all the cars were there.  Well…it was a BIG surprise planned by her family!  Joyce had wished for a family get together…not for any particular reason….just a nice day to enjoy each other’s company.  And it happened! They had dinner in the church hall, took photos, and the kids all had fun playing in the park.  It was a beautiful day.  Those attending were Rod & Ruth Erdman of Pipestone and their son, Randy & Marissa Erdman, Roland, Roree, and Graham of Lake Wilson; Pam & Mark Luettel of Adrian and their family, Jennifer Luettel of Mankato,  Keith & Emily Luettel, Blake and Elliet of Minnetonka, Corey & Tara Luettel, Ainsley, Oliver, and Leo of Faribault, and Lindsay & Bruce Meyeraan, Ian, Ava, and Aiden of Luverne; Peggy & Mark Meyer of Rushmore and their family, Matthew & Steph Meyer of Brandon, SD,  Natasha & Vern Schutte of Rushmore, and  Alyssa Meyer & friend, Logan Neyens of Wilmont; Nancy Decker and her family, Jeremy Groenewold, Jaycee, Ithica, and Haven, Josh Groenewold, and Chase Decker, all of Yale, SD;  Gail Erdman of Ireton, IA and her friend, Randy Egenes of Hawarden, IA and Gail’s family,  Justin & Meredith Jonas, Brooke and Claire of Sheldon, IA,  Jason Jonas & his friend, Samantha Miller, Harper and Marshal of Tea, SD, Dave & Kari Betz and Elliott, Marriah and Alyssa of Mankato and  Danielle & Elliot Apland, Peyton, Abbie, Callie, and Jewel of Chester, SD; Mike Erdman of Leota and his family,  Jessica & Bob Slinger, Montana and Ezekiel of Adrian,  Amber Erdman and Christian of Lismore, Laura & Colin Schickling and Megan Erdman and friend Roberto, all of Ellsworth.  Other guests included Father Rick Colletti, Seminarian David Kruse, and Roxanne Kemper. Missing were Joyce’s great-grandsons Jaxon and Nolan Jonas of Gillette, WY, (sons of Jason Jonas).  They fondly remembered the family patriarch, Earl Erdman, son/brother Steve Erdman, and  grandson Robbie Erdman who have all been called to their heavenly home.

Congratulations to Dr. Amanda Lynn, who is a 3rd year fellow and the recipient of the 2019 Eugenie Mayer Bolz Award.  This award is given by the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and recognizes outstanding patient care  Amanda recently received her award at the banquet held at the Mayo Foundation House in Rochester.  Amanda was very surprised when her father (and not Justin, her fiancé) showed up at her door to be her date!! Nothing better than a “daddy date night”…good job, Jeff!!   Amanda is the daughter of Jeff & Denise Lynn and the granddaughter of Bob & Jeannette Lynn.

The Adrian High School classes of 1968 and 1969 are planning a joint 50th and 51st class reunion on July 19-20, 2019. Collin Kemper graduated from Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls with degrees in Landscape Design, Horticulture, and Sports Turf Management.  Attending the ceremonies were his parents, Chris & Mindy and his sister, Alexia; grandparents John & Joni Carlberg; and great-grandparents Norma Carlberg and Lawrence Cauwels. Congratulations Collin!

On Sunday May 5th Jerry and Mary Kellen attended the Minnesota Garden Railroad Banquet and get together at Newport (Metro area). They were overnight guests in the home of their son, John and Ann Kellen at Waconia.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.  All motorists are reminded to safely “share the road” with motorcycles and to be extra alert to keep motorcyclists safe.   Motorcyclists are reminded to make themselves visible to other drivers.

Congratulations to the 2nd graders who celebrated their 1st Holy Communion on Saturday evening at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church:  Hazel Brake, Madelyn Koehne, Joseph Lenz and Kataniya Nelson-Hernandez.

Congratulations to Conner VanDyke, son of Terry & Carrie (Kern) Van Dyke, who is completing his firefighting training with Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue.  He has been training for many weeks and is eager to “get to work” in his chosen profession.  KELO TV had a news segment about Conner and another cadet, and their journey. He is the grandson of Marvin Kern and the late Fran Kern.

A “come and go” baby shower for mother-to-be McKenna Leinen and Baby Brockley will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Lismore Legion Hall.  McKenna is registered at Target and Amazon.  Organizers have “just one request, we hope it’s not hard, please bring a book instead of a card” Baby B will have a nice, little personal library!  Everyone is invited.

The American Legion Auxiliary will hold it’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 15th beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mary Ann Loosbrock will serve lunch and Karon Nagel will provide bingo prizes.
