Track and Field: Luverne Early Bird Invite

The Adrian track team started their track season in early April despite a very snowy winter and spring. The team went to Luverne on April 2nd on a mostly sunny afternoon, which proved to be nearly perfect for track and the Adrian team exceeding any first meet expectations that were had.

The girls were led by solid performances from juniors Kendra Frodermann and Moriah Bullerman placing high in their individual and team events, and sophomore Sammy Wieneke, who had a very impressive start to the season in throws. Frodermann placed 2nd in the high jump with a hop of 4 feet, 6 inches. She was also part of two placing relays. Bullerman placed 3rd and 2nd in the 1600 meter run and 800 meter run respectively. Her times were 5:59 in the 1600 and 2:37 in the 800. Wieneke took home 2nd place in discus with a throw of 85 feet even. She also placed 10th in shot put. Newcomer Brianna Reckamp placed 7th in her first open event of the 400, clocking a time of 1:13. Hannah Henning placed 9th and 10th overall in the long jump and 100 meter dash. Seventh grader Hunter Penning placed 10th in the 1600 meter run in her first track meet of her career with a time of 6:35 and Hali Bullerman placed 10th in the long jump as well. The 4×200 meter relay placed 2nd with a time of 1:58. Member of the team were Hannah Henning, Bailey Lonneman, Hali Bullerman, and Kendra Frodermann. There were two Personal Bests from Alesha Henning in the 300 meter hurdles who ran 1:05 and Grace Farinella in the 800 meter run who ran 2:58.

Junior Scot Edwards led the boy’s team with the only victory on the day. Edwards won the shot put with a toss of 43 feet, 6 inches. Senior Dakota John jumped his way into 6th place in the triple jump with a bound of 36 feet, 3 inches. The boy’s 4×100 meter relay placed 5th, running John, Tahj Schroder, Braxton Vorthems, and Christian Weidert. There were two Dragons who set Personal Best marks. Schroder jumped 15 feet, 8 inches in the long jump and Bruce Farinella ran 6 minutes, 38 second in the 1600 meter run.

The Dragons are scheduled to race again April 9th in Luverne and April 13th in Pipestone.  For cancellations and rescheduling information check the Adrian Middle/High School Facebook page or cancellations will be announced on the radio at FM 95.
