Adrian News 01-15-20

The bloodmobile will be at the AHS Middle School gym on Wednesday, January 22nd, from 1:00-7:00 p.m.  There is always a great need in these winter months because of possible shortages due to weather conflicts, etc.  Plan to give!

Can you believe we are already at the middle of January! OMG where does time go?  Are you ready for a cold week?

Well the Vikings had a ho-hum day on Saturday.  Even though their season ended with a loss, they had a winning season.  On to next year!  Now that they are done for the year, get out and support the Dragons.  They are doing well!

Martin Luther King Day is Monday, January 20.  Most government offices and banks will be closed to commemorate Martin Luther King.  Be sure to plan accordingly.

The AE Dragons teams had another good week last week, winning most of their events in basketball and wrestling.  Coming up this week: Thursday, January 16: boys hockey is away at Redwood Valley; the wrestlers are at home against Tri Valley;   varsity BBB is in Edgerton, varsity GBB is at home in Ellsworth, against MCC; and gymnastics is in Pipestone.   MS BBB and GBB play on Thursday also-the girls are in Worthington and the boys are at home in Adrian.  On Friday, January 17: the MS girls play in Mountain Lake; and BBB play at home in Ellsworth against MLS-C.

The AE wrestlers are on the mats in Tracy on Saturday for the Plum Creek Duals. Gymnastics is in Jackson, hockey is in Waseca and GBB is at home in Adrian against HBC

On Monday, Jan. 20th there is no school at the Adrian Schools, but there are plenty of activities on the schedule.  The MS basketball teams are both in action against Luverne: the girls are in Ellsworth while the boys travel to Luverne.  Both of the varsity teams are playing in Adrian against Sibley/Ochedan.  The JV games are first, followed by the varsity games; and gymnastics is at Jackson.  Tuesday, January 21: the MS teams play MCC-girls are at home in Ellsworth and the boys travel to MCC; varsity GBB is at home in Adrian against RRC and wrestling is away in Worthington.

The Senior Dining Center is holding their $2 meal day on January 15th and on January 23rd, you can bring a friend to dinner and play cards after.  Be sure to call ahead for reservations.

Be sure to check out the CEO SubZero Extravangza coming up on January 19.  It sounds like it will be a fun day.  The events begin at 12:30 at The Lake in Luverne.

Thought for the week: “It’s not hard to be a decent person” (a child’s take on what Jesus taught).  In our culture, where public unkindness has become an unpleasant and destructive trend, it is a blessing to hear a young person standing firm on a Jesus principle.  Jesus is alive and so is His kindness and it lives through you.  Show someone today that it’s not hard to be a decent person.
