Adrian News 06-05-19

It was a beautiful morning for the Purple Stride Pancreatic Cancer Walk, held in Sioux Falls this past Saturday.  There was a great amount of people who showed up to support finding a way to end Pancreatic Cancer.  The team walking in memory of Karen Mulder Sedio was represented by 6 states; Arizona, Wisconsin, Texas, Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota.  So many great people donated to the team and those who walked are grateful to you! We miss you Karen! Cancer sucks!!

Be sure to attend the meeting on June 10th concerning the repair project to highway 91.  This project is being moved up to begin at the end of June, 2019 instead of 2020.  If you have questions, bring them to the open house from 4-6 at the American Legion in Adrian. MnDOT people will be on hand to answer any questions!

After another rainy wet week, we finally saw the sun for a couple of days in a row.  It was so lovely to sit and soak up the sun!  The smoke coming from Canada did put a haze over everything, but is supposed to be clearing up.  We are drowning and parts of Canada are burning.  God must have a reason.  We can only trust.

With all the rain, the lawns look nice and green and the WEEDS are excelling!  There seems to be an abundance of dandelions this year.  The fields closer to the cities are showing more corn coming up than we are, but hopefully after this week, our farmers will be able to get caught up.

Working out in the garden and the lawn, you will notice a nice crop of mosquitoes and gnats growing.  Real soon they will be biting and we are going to have to spray to walk outside!  Hopefully our great city crew will be spraying and get them before they get us!  Be ready with both your suntan lotion and bug spray!  Summer is coming!

This coming Saturday in Lismore, the 1st Annual Vendor Event will be held at the American Legion Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with approximately 15 vendors with displays hoping to peek your interest.  Be sure to attend!

Scott Edwards is the lone Dragon athlete that is still going strong in his pursuit of a State medal.  Scott did well at the Section 3A meet held in Luverne. Several of his team members also competed and did well in their events, but only Scott qualified to move on.   Good luck Scott!

The Adrian Area softball team ended their year with a defeat at the hands of Wabasso on May 23. The boys baseball team also bowed out of the section semi-finals, falling to KMS and then RCW in the eliminations.  Congratulations on a great year!

The Track and Field team held it’s end of the year banquet at Pizza Ranch in Luverne on Friday, May 31.  Awards were handed out and the seniors were recognized for their contributions to the team.  Check out the story in this week’s Review for a list of the awards.  Congratulations to the members for a year of personal bests!

Congratulations to the seniors who graduated from Ellsworth this past Friday.  Good luck with your futures!

It was not a good week for golfers at the Adrian Country Club.  Many who golfed told of wading through 6+ inches of water in several place along the course.  Hopefully things will dry out now and summer can get off to a good start!

Hard to believe it is already June!  Don’t forget Father’s Day on June 16th!  Our dads are just as important as our moms!

Thought for the week:  Do not be afraid to admit what you cannot do.  Know your weaknesses and pray for God to send people into your life to do what you cannot!

Have a great week!
