Adrian News 11-20-19

This past weekend was much of an improvement weatherwise.  You could hear leaf blowers and even a few lawn mowers.  People were busily putting out Christmas decorations in the nice weather.  It is supposed to continue this whole week, with the weekend being quite nice.  There is definitely progress in the fields.  It’s good to see!

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Sharon Boltjes.  She passed away last Friday, surrounded by her family.  May God bless the Boltjes family.

Thanksgiving is a week away and Christmas is not far behind.  The Adrian Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 26, at 7:00 p.m.  Check the listing of all of the Thanksgiving Services in this weeks Nobles County Review.

This week we honor our teachers and administration at our area schools.  It is National Education Week.  Do something special for a teacher this week.  Congratulations to Adrian’s teacher of the year, Jessica Frodermann and Friend of Education, Julie Winselman.

This past weekend, a Christmas open house for area small business people was held in the American Legion building.  It was well attended by early Christmas shoppers.  What a fun way to spend a morning and support local small businesses!

Please keep all of the people who need extra prayers on top of your prayer list.  Also maybe add our teachers and students.  School is tough!

The annual Tree of Light ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Adrian Senior Dining Center.  The deadline to get your loved ones name on the list for the paper and the ceremony is Friday, November 29th.  The cost is $5 which goes to the Hospice Cottage in Luverne.

A Matter of Balance classes are being offered at the Adrian Senior Dining on Mondays, November 25, December 2, 9, 16, 23, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  These classes are free will donation and for any Senior who wants to work on maintaining their balance.

For those who have missed the grey pickup cruizing the streets of Adrian with Gene Owens at the wheel he is unable to drive since having cataract surgery.  He was seen in the drug store last week doing fine he reported.    Keep Gene in your prayers since he will be having second eye done this week. Good to see you see you Gene and hopefully soon to be cruizing the streets.

Thought for the week: It’s pretty sad when we care more about what people think than we do about what God thinks.  Wouldn’t it be better to get criticized, gossiped about and put out of the group, than to live one more day unhappy and miserable?  Jesus is passing by.  I’m getting out of the boat.  Will you join me?

Have a great week!
