Congratulations to Jordin Kopplow who competed in the Boston Marathon this past Monday.  She finished the 26.2 miles in a little over three hours. See pictures in next weeks paper.

Well, we had our first good blizzard of 2018, along with our first severe thunderstorm, all in one weekend!   Our thoughts are with all of those who had damage from the storm.  Spring are you there?

Two high school sports were finally able to get in there first games/meets of the season.  Boys baseball hosted Luverne, and lost the encounter.  The fields had to be shoveled and raked several times to allow for play last Thursday.  Also the Track team was able to run in Luverne the same evening.  Pictures posted by some of the parents attending looked COLD!  See the articles in this week’s paper for more information and stats.

Congratulations to Bill and Gloria Carlberg at the birth of their newest granddaughter, Tabitha Whitvy, who was born on April 13, 2018.

Coming up in sports at AHS for this next week (weather permitting) are: Thursday, April 19-a full slate Golf is scheduled at home hosting Fulda and SWC/Edgerton; Girls softball is home against RRC/WWG.  MiddleSchool baseball is home, while the Varsity is away at RRC/WWG.   All games begin at 4:30.  Middle School softball is away at RRC/WWG and Track and Field is in Pipestone.

On Friday, April 20 Girls softball is at home against Windom at 4:30 and on Saturday, April 21, the boys golf team is at the Worthington Invite at 9:00 a.m.

Congratulations to Sabdi Bravo and Maritza Beltran who both qualified to go to State for Speech.  Other who won medals for the Speech Team were Jayda Castaway, Felicity Alvarado, Alexia Kemper, and Sara Knips.  Congratulations to the team for a great year and good luck to Sabdi and Maritza at State.

This coming weekend is Adrian’s annual rummage sales.  Get a map and go shopping!

Also coming up is Randy Lenz’ benefit.  It is rescheduled from last Saturday.

Don’t miss the Copper Street Brass performance in the High School gym on Monday, April 23 strarting at 7:00 p.m.

Our deepest sympathies to Jonas and Sara Boltjes for the loss of their baby, Rhett Gerald.  Also condolences to Herman (Junior) and Dawn.  Blessed be Rhett’s memory.

Our sympathies go out to the Darius Klingenberg family.

Darius passed away on April 10, 2017.

A benefit for Josh O’Donnell will be held on April 22, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Wilmont, Mn.  Josh will be having a double lung transplant.  Josh is the son-in-law of Randy and Carol Johnson and nephew of Marcie and Joe Mauch.

Thought for the week:  Everyone needs a hug!  It’s fat free, sugar free and requires no batteries.  It also relieves pain and sadness.  So here’s a hug from me to you.  Pass it on!
