Gloria (Wieneke) Carlberg returned home from south Texas last week, accompanied by her mother, Sandy Spidel and her two cats.  Sandy has plans for surgery and will spend the summer recuperating in Minnesota.  Gloria also reports that she received the “coolest and most unexpected” birthday gift from her husband Bill.  It was a guitar– signed by Gloria’s hero and favorite country music singer, Loretta Lynn!  Happy Belated Birthday to Gloria and kudos to Bill for finding the perfect gift for his wife!

Joyce Erdman was happy to be introduced to her great-niece, Autumn Lois Ann Jindra, on Wednesday, at the home of Connie & Gary Hoffer in Adrian.  Other guests in the Hoffer home that evening were Autumn’s mother, Ann (Hoffer) Jindra of New Prague and Glenn & Mick Hoffer and Laurie Veld and Makayla and Madison, all of Brandon, SD.

The benefit for Randy Lenz was postponed until Saturday, April 21st.  Join them for food, fellowship and silent auction items.

Our sympathy to Rick & Linda (Lutmer) Bartl on the death of his mother, Ramona Bartl.  Mona passed away at the age of 81 in Gwinner, ND.  Mona is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ken; four sons, Brad (Donna), Bruce (LeAnn Legler), Rick (Linda) and Barry (David). Blessed be her memory.

Mark your calendar now for spring clean up on Monday, May 21st. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of spring clean up to remove unwanted and unused items from their property.

The Lismore Cooperative Telephone Company will hold its annual stockholders meeting on Wednesday, April 18th, at the American Legion Hall. Three directors will be elected and the financial report for 2017 will be reviewed.  Lunch and door prizes follow the business meeting

The American Legion Auxiliary will hold it’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 25th, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Celia Lais will serve lunch and Joyce Erdman will provide bingo prizes.

Belated birthday wishes go out to former Lismore resident, Alma Krogman on April 15th as she celebrated her 101st birthday.

Good luck to AHS students Sabdi Bravo and Maritza Beltran both of Lismore as they travel to the state speech contest.  Sabdi is the daughter of Alejandro & Mayra and will compete in Informative Speaking. Maritza is the daughter of Jose & Maria and will compete in Poetry. Other students who won medals were Jayda Castaway, Felicity Alvarado, Alexia Kemper, and Sara Knips. Good luck ladies.

Congratulations to Brian & Erin Wieneke of Puyallup, WA on the birth of their first child Tabitha Whitvy born on April 13th.  Proud grandparents are Gloria & Bill Carlberg of Lismore and Jim & Mimi Yanus of Boulder, CO.
