A committee of 10 people began planning the Kids Against Hunger event in January. This two day event spanned across the school districts of Adrian, Hills Beaver-Creek, Luverne and hundreds of community members volunteered their time. All these people gathered for one goal to help Stamp Out Hunger for those in need.
Adrian Elementary Students had fun raising money and volunteering for a worthy cause these past two weeks. About 90 Adrian Elementary Students in the fourth and fifth grades participated in the Kids Against Hunger Meal packing on September 19th. AES Students joined students from Hills Beaver-Creek for the first shift of the event. Students packed for one hour and together with Hills Beaver-Creek students packed, over 11, 000 meals in 52 boxes. Other groups from the area continued to pack throughout two days packing a total of 150,120 meals. Pastor Kristi Franken from the Adrian Methodist Church and one of 10 coordinators of this event commented “in a world where diversity seems to be dividing the bond of humanity, for two days we join our hearts and hands to be the best gift of representation of humanity.”
