Baseball holds end-of-year banquet

The Adrian High School Baseball team held itś annual end-of-the-year banquet last Wednesday in the Elementary cafeteria.  Pizza Ranch pizza was provided and awards were handed out at this years banquet.

The JV team finished the season with a 9-4-1 record.  Grant Jansma and Tristan Thier both received the ¨Coaches Award” for their dedication to the baseball program.  Ian Stamer received the ¨Gold Glove Award” for his defensive prowess. Lance Luettel was the JV ¨Pitcher of the Year¨ while Noah Reyne was the JV ¨Hitter of the Year.¨  Earning the MVP for the JV team  Brent Hokeness.

The Varsity team finished the season with a 15-8 (8-2) record.  The team was the Red Rock Conference runner up and made the final four in the section tournament.   Earning the ¨Coaches Awards¨ for the varsity were Landon Rogers and Zach Hendel.  ¨Rookie of the Year¨ went to Nick Harder.  The ¨Gold Glove Award¨ went to center fielder Nate Lonneman.  ¨Pitcher of the Year¨ was awarded to Alex Loosbrock while ¨Hitter of the Year¨ went to Zack Loosbrock.  The voting for the ¨MVP Award¨ ended in a tie with Jake Stamer and Mitchell Wagner both receiving the award.

Letterwinners for the 2017 team were: Alex Loosbrock, Zack Loosbrock, Nate Lonneman, Mitchell Wagner, Zach Hendel, Jake Stamer, Nick Harder, Skylar Polzine, Jeffrey Cauwels, Landon Rogers, Ryan Wieneke, Taylor Loosbrock, and Lexi Slater.

The Adrian team was honored as one of five teams to earn the ¨MSHSBCA Gold All-State Team Award¨ for the 2017 season.  The award is given based on every player’s GPA.  Congratulations to the players for representing the High School well in both the classroom and outside the classroom!
