HL-O walks off Adrian

Heron Lake -Okabena used a three run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Dragons by a score of 4-3 last Thursday in Heron Lake.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings.  Only two hits were recorded to that point, both of which came from the Dragons.  Zack Loosbrock had a single in the first and Ryan Wieneke added a single in the third.

Adrian was able to get on the board with one run in the fifth.  Mitchell Wagner started the inning by reaching base on an error by the third-baseman.  Wagner stole second, and advanced to third on a ground out from Alex Loosbrock.  Nate Lonneman then drove Wagner home with a two-out single to right field.  The Dragons led 1-0 after five innings of play.

The Dragons were able to tack on another run in the sixth.  Jake Stamer reached base via balls.  Zach Hendel then laid down a perfect bunt, reaching first on the bunt single.  Stamer was able to get a good jump and steal third base, putting runners on the corners.  Hendel then stole second, with the throw getting away from the second baseman, allowing Stamer to score.  Eventually, HL-O was able to strand Hendel at third base.  The Dragons then led, 2-0.

HL-O was able to get on the board in the bottom of the sixth.  The Wildcat catcher hit a line drive to right field that was out of the reach of a diving Wieneke for a triple.   The runner was able to score on a groundout to short-stop Hendel.  The score was then, 2-1.

Adrian tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh.  Landon Rogers started the inning by singling and stealing second base.  Alex Loosbrock then put down a bunt to advance Rogers to third.  Nate Lonneman hit a sac fly to center, scoring Rogers.

The wheels fell of in the bottom of the seventh for the Dragons.  The Wildcats were able to load the bases with a double, walk, and HBP.  The Wildcat catcher then came up again, this time hitting a walk-off three-run double down the left field line.

Alex Loosbrock pitched well on the mound for the Dragons, pitching six innings.  He allowed only one hit, one run, and struck out 11 batters.  Mitchell Wagner pitched the seventh, allowing three runs and got tagged for the loss.

Offensively, the Dragons could only record five singles.  Hendel, Zack Loosbrock, Rogers, Lonneman, and Wieneke had a single each.  Stamer, Wagner, and Rogers all stole a base and scored a run in the loss. Lonneman had two RBI.

The Dragons are now 6-2 (4-1 conference).
