Inch by inch, row by row, the United Methodist Church garden continues to grow

About a month ago, Pastor Kristi Franken and members of the United Methodist Church had the idea to start a garden behind their church.  Through a donation to the church they were able to find a raised garden bed that was already filled with dirt.  Chick Honermann brought the garden bed to the church lot and the children and church members started the task of weeding their first garden.

Terry Miller started the tomatoes and green peppers that were to be planted in the garden, other seeds and plants were donated by members.  The children of the church helped to plant the seeds in the garden that included: carrots, radishes, beans, tomatoes and green peppers.

Occasionally, Pastor Franken will read a passage from the bible to the children next to what they like to call their “Worship Garden” while the children tend to the garden pulling weeds and watering it.

Once the garden is ready to harvest, the children will bring the vegetables into the back of the church to sell.  They will use the money they earn to pay for next year’s garden.
