REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Monday, August 22, 2016
Chairman Schilling called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. A roll call revealed all members present except Angie Boyenga & Jeff Boltjes. The Board of Education opened the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Staff present: John Willey, John Widvey, Darcey Groen & Ethan Van Briesen.
Visitors present: Josh Nath.
A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Werner to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on July 18, 2016. Motion carried.
The Board of Education reviewed the Student Activity Fund.
Mr. Willey’s report included information on student count, MCA testing, Parent Aware, Staff Workshop, Staff Breakfast, Staff Supper, and fall sports practices.
The Board of Education reviewed the Treasurer’s Report. A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Kruse to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kruse and seconded by Goedken to approve the bills. Motion carried.
Mr. Willey suggested setting the Truth in Taxation Hearing. A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Kruse to hold the Truth in Taxation Hearing on Monday, Dec. 19th at 6:00 p.m. The regular school board meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Motion carried.
Mr. Willey presented information on a grant to receive funds to staff a Social Worker. A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Werner to have Mr. Willey pursue the grant. Motion carried.
Member Dave Goedken made a motion to approve a resolution relating to the election of school board members and calling the school district general election. Member Jill Kruse seconded the resolution and moved its adoption. Upon a vote taken thereon the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Mr. Willey presented information on Paraprofessional testing.
Mr. Willey presented information on buildings and grounds.
The School Board did a walk-through of the building.
There being no further business Chairman Cliff Schilling called for a motion to adjourn. A motion was made by Werner and seconded by Kruse to adjourn. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
