Library grand re-opening a success!

On Friday, July 14, 2017, the Adrian Branch Library re-opened its doors and revealed a newly renovated space.  The Grand Re-Opening began with words from Nobles County Library Director Clint Wolthuizen, who spoke about the importance of, and future of Libraries.  Nobles County Commissioner Gene Metz spoke about the project itself.  Branch Librarian Meredith Vaselaar thanked all who were involved with helping throughout the process, the volunteers, the donators, with a special thanks to the Library staff in Worthington, as well as the Adrian Branch Library clerks Joan Johnson and Cathy Marsh.  All three speakers thanked those that worked on the building, provided support and funding, and helped with the project.

Throughout the day, more than 300 people came to view the newly renovated space, check out items, and indulge in cookies and ice cold bottles of water.  There was a steady stream of visitors until the Library closed its doors shortly after 7:00 p.m. that day.

A guest book was available and comments written inside the pages included, “What a wonderful space,” and “looks fantastic!” and “finally!”  From the beautifully designed space – ceilings, carpet, walls – to the shelving units and table and seating, to the awesome castle feature that was “tried out” by old and young alike.  One enthusiastic twelve-year-old lad said, “Wow! The kids are REALLY going to like this castle – it is better than the old one!”   The water fountains are a welcome addition and are located near the Teen/Young Adult area.  There is creative seating available, and a public access computer on which to search the Library database – another addition that was not previously available.

For those not able to make it to the Grand Re-opening, be sure to stop in at your earliest convenience and check out the newly renovated Library.  It is absolutely stunning and a great asset to this area of Nobles County.
