Nobles County construction projects mean delays for motorists

Resurfacing of County State Aid Highway 9

Nobles County’s contractor Duininck Inc. will be completing the resurfacing of County State Aid Highway 9 (McCall Avenue) north of Reading between 130 Street and 200 Street sometime the week of July 17 through the 21.

When County State Aid Highway 9 is completed, the contractor will begin work on County State Aid Highways 18 and 7 (120th, 130th Streets and Nystrom Avenue) between Trunk Highway 59 and County State Aid Highway 9 (McCall Avenue) southwest of Fulda.

The public can expect delays of up to 20 minutes when driving these roadways.  It is recommended that alternative routes be used if possible.

These two projects, totaling 14 miles, are part of a 70 mile, $9.5 million contract that began in June and will be completed in September.  Seven of the 14 projects included in the contract have already been substantially completed.

This roadway work is part of Nobles County’s larger commitment to improve the condition and safety of the county highway system. Highway 59 (Humiston & Oxford St) resurfacing may start July 17

Resurfacing and lane restriciton Highway 59 Motorists are advised of speed reductions and lane restrictions on Highway 59 (Humiston and Oxford Streets) in Worthington as crews begin a resurfacing project as early as Monday, July 17.

The Highway 59 project extends from Interstate 90 to the north junction with Highway 60 and will be under construction until September.

Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution through the work zone and watch for workers, equipment and traffic control devices.

In addition to resurfacing, the project includes sidewalk access improvements, lighting and traffic signal upgrades.  This project should provide a smoother, safer ride until a more comprehensive project is constructed around 2025.
