Lismore News 02-07-18

Congratulations to our Hollywood Connection, Lisa (Engbarth) Demaine.  Lisa was notified that “HOT BREAK” was a winner at the 2018 California Women’s Film Festival. The movie features a middle aged woman who wants back into TV writing after having children and getting a divorce, and she finally gets a big break. The plot confronts generational differences and male/female politics. Demaine directed the film which won first place as the Audience Award Winner. HOT BREAK was also awarded Best TV Pilot at the Irvine Film Festival for 2018.  Lisa is the daughter of Lyle & Karyl Engbarth and formerly of Lismore.

The community offers sympathy to Raevette (Mrs. Bill) Loonan on the death of her father, Dwaine Kruse. Dwaine passed away on January 28th at the age of 94.  Dwaine and his wife Wilma lived on a farm south of Adrian.  Not only was Dwaine a farmer, but he also spent time custom grain grinding, threshing, baling hay, trucking, and doing other construction work.  He loved attending farm sales, especially to visit and meet new people.  Dwaine is survived by his wife, Wilma and children Lyle of Rushmore, Raevette of Lismore, Sharma Brockmeyer of Spirit Lake, and five granddaughters.  Blessed be his memory.

Congratulations to Bryn Loosbrock and George Hunt as they were married on January 20th at the Landmark Center in St. Paul. The reception was held at A’bulae in St. Paul. The couple spent their honeymoon in Bali.  Bryn is the daughter of Brad Loosbrock of Champlin and Julie Loosbrock of Brooklyn Park. Her grandparents are the late Ivo & Fran Loosbrock of St. Kilian and the late Billy & Marie Schissel of Lismore.

Little Miss Emma Gengler was baptized at St. Adrian Catholic Church on Sunday, January 21st.  Emma is the daughter of Kevin & Jennifer Gengler of rural Lismore. Her grandparents are Brian & Joyce Gengler and Randy & Patty Geister. Godparents for the little gal are Amy Geister, Tyson Geister, and Emily Hutchinson.

Did you recognize one of the couples in last week’s Bridal Supplement of the Nobles County Review?  It was our own Steven and Laurie Wieneke!  You two haven’t changed a bit!
