Lismore News 10-10-18

Welcome to Bob Dolan, the new Ag loan officer at the State Bank of Lismore.  Bob joined the staff in June and has a strong background in agriculture and banking.  He grew up on a farm near Milroy and comes from a large family, so he fits right in with the community of Lismore! Bob currently splits his time working in Lismore and in Marshall where his wife Peggy works and lives; they are hoping to move to the area soon. The Dolans have three grown sons.  Stop in the bank and say hello to Bob!

Cindy Veld and her mom, Mary Sites, spent the September 29th weekend in Rapid City, SD.  They surprised Mary’s cousin on her 50th birthday on Friday evening.  It was a surprise to EVERYONE when Cindy and Mary just “showed up” at the party!  After lots of reminiscing, reacquainting, and shopping they returned home on Sunday evening.

The Ivan & Jean (Lorang) Vargas family of Dell Rapids, SD had the opportunity to meet Dr. Rick Ohye, the heart surgeon who repaired their daughter Phoebe’s heart.  Dr. Ohye and other cardiologists from C.S.Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI were in Sioux Falls, SD and hosted a “meet & greet” for the little patients who have been referred to them.  Ivan & Jean are grateful for Dr. Ohye and the other highly skilled surgeons who have repaired Phoebe’s heart…not once, not twice, but three times!!  Mike & Melissa (Weidert) Einck echoed the sentiments of the Vargases.  Their daughter, Molly, was also Dr. Ohye’s patient. They were present to thank the doctors who gave their daughter life and hope for the future. Phoebe and Molly are tough little girls who are the REAL heroes—they have battled through the surgeries and continue to amaze everyone with their strength and resilience.

The Deutschs wanted to surprise Jackie with a trip to Ocean City, MD, but those plans were thwarted by Hurricane Florence!  The sisters were able to visit their brother Jeffrey Pensyl who has been hospitalized following cancer surgery. Jackie was also able to connect with other relatives at the hospital; Jeff’s wife Cheryl, niece Candace, nephew John and Sarah Pensyl and their children; and her niece Susan Devenny.  Cheryl and Jackie also took a trip to Manasquan, NJ to see Chris and Dawn Devenny and son Liam.  The Pocono Mountains near Stroudsburg, PA and the boardwalk at Delaware Bay, DE provided some sightseeing and lots of good food!  Jackie’s brother Jim from the Twin Cities was able to join them as well.   Jackie had a wonderful trip and her faithful companion, little “Gracie” had a vacation too…in Inwood, IA at the home of Angie and Jason Beek.
