Alma Krogman, a grand lady who lived in Lismore for many years, celebrated a BIG birthday on Saturday, April 15th in Minneapolis.  Alma’s daughter, Karla Gedell, hosted an open house birthday party in honor of her mother.  Many friends, family, and former Lismore residents helped Alma celebrate her new status as a centenarian!  Happy 100th birthday, Alma!

Joyce Erdman attended the wake service for Mary Ann Hebig at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda last Monday afternoon.  She also visited her former neighbor, Scott Weiner, who now resides in Fulda.  They had a nice visit.  Scott says hello to all his former neighbors and friends in Lismore.

A bridal shower honoring Nichole Loosbrock, daughter of Bruce & Brenda, will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at the Lismore Legion Hall beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Nichole is the bride-to-be of Austin Quebedeaux of Helena, Montana.  The  couple are registered at Target.

Congratulations to Gerald and Linda Fuerstenberg of rural St. Kilian, on celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married April 16, 1977 at St. Kilian Catholic Church.  Wishing you many more years of happiness!

The Lismore Cooperative Telephone Company will hold its annual stockholders meeting on Wednesday, April 19th at the American Legion Hall. Three directors will be elected and the financial report for 2016 will be reviewed.  Lunch and door prizes follow the business meeting.

There will be an Open House Bridal Shower for Samantha Lenz and Greg White on Saturday, April 29,2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Adrian American Legion. Samantha is the

daughter of Larry & Deb Lenz of rural Lismore/Adrian.  The couple is registered at Macy’s and Target.

Congratulations to Kelsey Altman and Andrew Lonneman on their engagement. Kelsey is the daughter of Cliff and Tammi Altman of Lismore and Andrew is the son of Kevin and Nancy Lonneman of Adrian.  They will be married on July 15th, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lismore.

Mark your calendar now for spring clean up on Wednesday, May 3rd. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of spring clean up to remove unwanted and unused items from their property.

Linda Bartl, Aberdeen, SD was a Sunday overnight guest in the home of Dave & Deb Lutmer.

The Lismore American Legion Family (American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, & Sons of the American Legion) is again taking applications for their memorial scholarship.  Interested applicants should visit the website: lismorepost636.com for an application and to read the qualifications.  Applications are due by May 1st. The scholarship will be announced at the Memorial Day program.   For more information or a paper application, please contact Darwin Veld or any Legion, Auxiliary, or SAL member.

Good luck to AHS students Sabdi Bravo and Alexia Kemper both of Lismore as they travel to the state speech contest this week.  Sabdi is the daughter of Alejandro & Mayra and will compete in Informative Speaking. Alexia is the daughter of Chris & Mindy and qualified in the area of Extemporaneous Reading.

The community offers sympathy to the family of Mary Ann Hebig.  Mary Ann

died April 6th at the age of 85.

Mary Ann and her husband Orville farmed near Lismore most of their lives.  She enjoyed playing cards, reading, “having coffee” and spending time with her family.  Survivors include her children: Vivian, Vonnie, Kay, Kris, Keith, Carol, and Wendy along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Blessed be her memory.

Celebrating Easter Sunday with dinner at the Debby & Frank Wieneke home were:  Tom & Christine Preuss and Michael & Jennifer, Adrian; Darin Wieneke and his wife, Maria Vu, Kaia and Adrian, St. Paul; Gary Lutmer and his wife, Roxy Scholl, St. James; Dave & Joyce Kanten, Fulda; Dylan Johnson, Brandon, SD; Rick Lutmer and Katie, Omaha, NE; Dave & Deb Lutmer, Cody Lutmer, Jeff Lutmer, Patty & Mike Buysse, all of Lismore.

Joyce Erdman Lismore, enjoyed Easter noon dinner at the home of her son Rod and Ruth Erdman, Pipestone.  Other guests were Rod and Ruth’s son, Randy and Marissa Erdman and Rolland, Pipestone.

It was a great day!!

Joyce also got to see the new home of Randy and Marissa under construction. It is not to far from being able to move in and is really nice.

Congratulations to grandparents Jim & Lori VonHoltum on their newest grandchild, Dax James, born on April 13th to JJ & Amy VonHoltum of rural Luverne.  Dax joins his older sister, Ryhan.  His other grandparents are Darwin & Darla Timmer of rural Ellsworth.

The American Legion Auxiliary will hold it’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 26th beginning at 7:00 p.m.   Deb Lutmer will serve lunch and LuAnn Reisdorfer will provide bingo prizes.
